I was just adding things up the other day, and I cam up just under 8k for this new build, of course, I'm not paying any labor, doing it all myself. That's with a Disco, W11 motor with s4's and BC valvetrain work, 740's, calum RT, new ACT XTreme, Precision FMIC, hotshot kit, and on and on. I'll probably spend another $500 on gauges and fluids, but I'll be under $10K and I made a couple grand selling off my old setup.

lol yeah thats a reason i chose to mess with this car its fairly cheap to mod even if you dump 10k into it

when u start messing with other cars you can dump 50k 75k EASILY without even realizing, it sure helps alot doing everything your self

Dump $4000 into one of these cars and you have a Mid 12 second car that is Reliable easy. Dump $6000 into one of these cars and you have a mid to low 11 sec car easy that will be dead reliable and run beside or beat damn near any street car you throw it up against.
Gotta love these cars!

I've spent over what some of those guys spent, but I don't look at it in terms of cost.

I just look at it as a hobby, and you can ALWAYS throw your money at a hobby. Doesn't bother me in the slightest, as I'm not in a race for time. Hell I don't even have nice seats in my b14 after all the money I've spent!

i will always put money into this just because of the pure enjoyment and it brings people around me closer to be honest. You can't put a price on something you love so I really could care less how much i spend haha I'm enjoying it and thats all that matters.

well lets see, i have spent quite a bit in the past 1.5 years but nowhere near that, most of my money went into a new jdm motor 4X, lol,

My initial setup

S13 T25, S13 mani, S13 greddy downpipe running open, Got for free for doing work for a buddy, Retail is around $400

Oil line kit $50
Boost Guage $50
Aem wideband $250
JWT S4 cams $600
Fidanza flywheel $200
ACT clutch $200
Prothane mounts $65
370cc injectors $50
Z32 maf $100
Walbro fp $100
Nismo afpr $100
New axles $100
FMIC and piping w/ bov $250
Calum ecu $105
GC coilovers on GR2's $250
15" wheels $300
powdercoated valve cover $60
misc hoses and crap $100

$2930 total for my whole turbo setup

This setup went 13.0 @110 on street tires on 8psi of boost, then went 12.4 @110 on 18psi spike holding 12, (bad idea), then went 12.4@96mph melting the piston 300ft before the end of the quarter, would have been possibly a 12.0 or so @113, already crossed 110mph when the motor went, gives you an idea, pushed the t25 way way too hard which caused that motor to go.

From there on out i had several stupid problems happen, totaling another 3 motors one of which was a semi build with cp piston, cosworth headgasket and all new bearings.

So $800 for my semi build, $475 X 3 for the JDM motors i went through.

Then i switched to my s15 t28 turbo i got for $300,
520cc injectors $200

This setup on 9psi was soooo much faster than my t25 setup with the 18psi spike holding 12 and alot safer, This setup on 9psi was in the 11.6-7 range @118mph easily. How do i know? because i walked away from a C6 vette with mods that went 11.9@115, a stage 3 srt 4 on a 60 trim 25psi boost that went 12.0 @114, walked him bad, I got greedy and upped the boost with a manual boost controller and it ended up going more than i wanted and all it took was one full run while in tuning process and cracked the ring lands. The stock cast pistons with 9.5:1 compression dont like 22psi from a t28 very much. But boy did it run hard spinning the tires till about 105mph, this was on basicly brand new falkens.

Again the car had a lot of weight reduction as well but it was quick. I sold off my old turbo setup and went ve and that didnt work out either, haha So now im going full on all out build with 60 trim turbo or bigger, possibly 35r, 16psi on pump 400whp, and 500whp on 26-28psi.

So as you can see im still well below the price they spend on their rsx's and was running just as fast.

On our cars you can do a full build with big turbo, good manifold, and all the works for under 10k and have a low low 10 second capable car with traction trapping 130+ speeds and be reliable as hell. This is my plan for my race car. Go Nissan

again our motors are cheap as hell compared to a k series motor, we have soo little aftermarket support compared to a k series, but we do have an advantage of the fact that our motors came as a factory turbocharged option.

the k series as of last year does also but still we have had it for what 17+ years, So again we started having aftermarket support alot sooner because our motors were in existence sooner. But that kinda stopped when all these newer motors came about. But yeah parts for a k series even with all the aftermarket support are very very expensive. You can pick up kits all day long on here that will make big hp for very very little money, if you wanna do it right and do a build that can be done fairly cheap as well. You can do a reliable build for well under 2k

^This way you will have an idea of what to look for in the long run and what problems you think that may occur.
