T28 oil and water feed locations?!?!
Im helpin a friend of mine upgrade his turbo on his b14, hes going from a t28 to a gt35, i noticed that the t28 water and oil feed lines attach directly to the front of the block via banjo bolts. He doesnt know for sure if its a DET block or not, the car was purchased already boosted. What we do know its a 53j udsm highport head.

Now i was looking at my JDM RR because ive never noticed these before, and i have a bolt in place where his water line attaches but no bolt that i can see for the oil, but its clear where the bolt should be there are threads...My question is what he have a DET block and highport head? or a usdm motor that the previous owner tapped the block at these locations?

thats where his water line attaches to the turbo, just above the nissan stamp...

I cant remember off the top of my head but i believe that second or third hole was where his oil feed was bolted to.

And here is where it was tapped for oil return, in that flat spot to the right of that bolt on the header.

Does anyone have pics of a the stock water and oil feed locations of a DET to help me get to the bottom of this?!?!

Correct.

It's the second hole from the top.

Also correct.

See my red bold statements above.

I don't know where the other water feed/return line is, but IIRC it's on the side of the motor where the other water lines are.

You've already covered the other three. The oil feed line is a pain in the ass depending on the dip tube and manifold concoction you have.

So after doin a little snooping i figured out what he has is a bluebird DET, i took what that link and the info there and lookin the at headcode list the bluebird DET has a 78E block and a 53j (usdm) head. Now my next question, he's upgrading and im looking into getting his t28, would it be worth it to tap this galley for my oil feed? Or would i be better off just using a Tee from the sender location? Thanks for the help guys!

I've wrestled with this question as well. I'm going with the "T" thing, just because I don't want to have to deal with possibly getting aluminum shards in my block when I drill/tap that spot on the engine.
If the engine were out of the car and on a stand, I'd drill and tap the block. It's not worth it to me to do it otherwise though.

The only way you can tap that fitting for the feed, is if the block can be deep cleaned afterwards.

It's not worth the worry of having shavings in your block when you're done. T-fitting using an adapter would be the best way to go on a DE block, unless you already have the motor in pieces.

I havent touched that top bolt for the water line but would that be a good feed source to use?

Also what about tapping that flat spot where the stock return is? would that involve taking off the upper oil pan aswell? Where are the turbo guys tapping for return lines? ive seen some people tap directly into the pan itself is that common? Thanks for the replies!

Remove the lower and upper pans to tap the boss for the oil return. Do a search on the fitting to use and bits to use.

Tapping the pan is okay on a Honda, but not so much so on an SR. We have shallow pans compared to honda boys, so you may have issues with oil draining properly.

Just use the water lines from your throttle body and re-route them to the turbo using the water feed line kit from GoFastDepot.com.
