intake thermal spacers and port matching for turbo?
Hi

I have a W10 DET about to go in and keeping it with the lil t25, not expecting big power as this is my daily driver.

I also have some intake thermal spacers lying around which have been traced from the gasket.

Problem with this is it's not very well port matched at all (see pic attached)

Will the turbulance created by these spacers out weigh the small benifit thermal spacers give ? taking into consideration the turbulance will be right at the intake where the injectors fire.

Thanks for any opinions or advice.

I would leave it alone.

the ports on the runners are always smaller than the ports on the head. They do this to not cause flow problems.

If you match the ports to the thermal spacer, you could end up with a port that is larger than the head and then you have flow problems.

What you need to do is see how the thermal spacer matches up to the head. This is more important.

im pretty sure they won't match to the head very well at all. I'm sure the ID of the head ports will be smaller than the spacer (but not smaller than the runners like you said)

so having the step from the manifold to the larger ID of the spacer to potentially a smaller ID of the head ports (but which is still larger than the ID of the runners) will this 'step' still cause flow issues ?

im not going to bother with any port matching here, if they will be a hindrance then i simply won't bother.

thanks for the advice
