yeah, 22-25psi is about the max on a 2871 without too much backpressure. After this point your gains are minimal.

with the slightly larger turbine wheel on the 3071, even with the same 56 trim comp wheel, these seem ok up to 29-30psi but no more. Just from my experience with them.

Pump gas on the street with either of them, i'd keep it to no more than 20psi, maybe a lil less to be safe depending on your gas quality

Snikers is a little more Liberal than me when it comes to turbos, boost and octane. I will go with snicker 20 PSI guide line with a T3 housing but I still will not do it myself, as I am a little conservative.

My more conservative guide line on these smaller turbos to keep things 100% safe is

0-16 PSI 93-95 octane,
17-23 PSI 97-101 octane
24-40 PSI 105-C16 octane

Here is what I have seen on these turbos and where they vbest perform.

GT28Rs makes 360-370WHP at 17-18 PSI again these cars run 122-123 MPH in the 1/4 mile

GT2871 makes 400-420 WHP at 20-21 PSI again these cars run 124-126 MPH in the 1/4 mile

3071 makes 440-460 WHP 23-26 PSI, these cars generally run 126-128 MPH in the 1/4 mile

I voted for GT2871R with .86 AR housing.

Hey Dre, would you clarify in post #52 if you're talking about the T3, or T2 flanged 3071?
Thanks.

T25 flange but this is with external wastegate.

I am used to using the Incon turbo which has a bigger wastegate port so boost creep is not an issue.

Stick with the GT2871R

The turbo with the most HP is not always the triick.

The T2871R will give the best HP and torque curves in my opinion.

Do you think it would be benifcial to run the 3071r at first with internal gate until you can get it externally gated, or just get the 2871r and run it internally gated?

Read post above on what turbo I would go with.

So, dre finally spoke up and is telling me to go with the 2871r, so I guess I will listen...... I also plan on grabbing a set of jwt s3m's too, so what kinda of hp can I make at 25psi on race gas with the gt2871r?? And then How much would I make on the gt3071r with the jwt s3m's at the same psi and race? What would be the differences between the two power wise? And I don't mean peak or most hp, I mean how will the power come on? Whats the reason for going with the 2871r over the 3071r??

btw just a fyi I will definitely be running a p11 or b15 tranny before I bolt-on whatever turbo it is i get, so the tranny will be ready for the power...

I am really confused .....That dyno of the gt3071r looked very nice and tempting! I would also definitely switch to a external WG on the 3071r if I did end up buying it.

The old saying with tv's is if you want a 46" get a 50". You should always go bigger, so that way you won't regret it later on when your craving something bigger(more powerful in this case)......

This dyno is what makes me want the gt3071r. I mean it still has a fat torque curve and still is holding power pretty well to like 7300rpm( I know it's with s4's, but I will be using s3m's and also a gtir motor instead of a avenir motor)

And best of all its not even close to the turbo's efficiency level!! This turbo should be running at 20 psi on pump and 26psi+ on race! Its also nice to know that I only would have to run 15-16psi to make 350whp and have to worry about my HG all the time..

Thats just silly man...I am already running a gt28r, so why would I waste my money on a turbo that is almost identical????

Anyway I also don't plan to use a b13 tranny, but instead a p11 or b15.
