i am a fan of the gt3071......just not in the hacked up rear wheel, t2 internal gate .82 rear housing, it is the worst possible combination for that turbo.

now if you said you want a .78 divided t3 with external gate and manifold to suit i would say hell yeah.

thing is everything starts reaching its limit at that point. I assume you want to run the t2 cause you have the standard manifold. Well the standard manifold will reach its limits at around the same point as a gt2871r. It's all about matching the set up to suit. No point running a turbo with a hacked rear wheel, on a manifold that wont flow what the turbo can with a housing that will actually hinder spool on a rear wheel of that size.

Instead run the gt2871r as the rear wheel is better suited to the t2 housing, the rear wheel will choke around the same time as the manifold and you will have a much better powerband

I mean you make some excellent points also. If i was to go to a t3 flanged turbo I wouldn't bother with the 3071r i would just grab a holset hx35 and call it a day. It makes power close to a 35r for a 3rd of the price, but i just want to keep my intercooler piping and stock manifold(maybe add a external gate to it down the road, which would really help the g30). It looks like my best option is the gt2871r, so i guess i will go with that....I just don't wanna be disappointed thats all and everybody that I talked to that ran the gt2871r was disappointed with it and wished they never spent the 1100 on it, so this is why I am so skeptical about buying it and considering the 30 instead. I like the more lag the 30 will produce, I like the peak hp the 30 will produce and from the dyno's i don't see and issues with it????

I mean can somebody show me a 2871r vs 3071r dyno comparison with the same or close to the same mods??? That will the best way to compare the 2 I think?

Jon, get the 3071r with other supporting MODS with S4's and call it a day. What is the price difference between the two turbos given the best deal of the two? That should be the next question if money is a concern. You keep saying power, so go 3071r.

i can source a few. Thing i have found people find with the gt3071 is that the standard ex manifold of the rwd engine chokes and the is not a huge if any power difference between the gt2871r 56 trim. If cleaned up it should help.

That JGYBB37R would be pretty crazy if you dont mind lag and want to keep t2. From the sounds of what you want i would almost recommend that

^Who is running this turbo? I would like to read up on it some more. Is it JGY's design of some sort? I viewed the turbo from the link that was posted in the thread.

Well they don't make s4's for the gti-r, but plan on getting some s3m's. Also I already have all the supporting mods except the cams, tranny, light wieght flywheel, and of course the turbo..... but they will all be coming within the next 2 months.....low 11 second street car coming soon.

Oh yeah, you are running the GTiR. The S3m's will have to do. Can't wait till you get it up and running. Either turbo should be fun, but I would go with the GT3071r for a little more future push.

you dont need to mess with gtir manifold if you run with the 3071, it works well on a gtir motor with very few mods.

the jgybb37 turbos are one of the biggest piles of **** that i have had the misfortune of ever experiencing in a car with a turbo fitted to....lol

they are hideous, wouldn't use one if it was free and i was getting blow jobs off jenna jammeson all the time i had it on my car

Ok, well I think I made my decision and I am going to most likely go with the 3071r. I just have to work on my current tune on my car now because I am running a gt28r @ 18psi and besides the fact that it feels laggy it also feels pretty slow for some reason???? I am having timing issues and think i am off 7 degrees of timing, which I am thinking is causing my problems???

I am going to my buddies soon and am going to get a retune because i know this set-up is capable of more power then what i am getting.
