And you know this how??? Do you drive or for that matter know anything about a gtir motor and its mecahnical head, ITB's, solid lifters, etc? Or s3m's, which aren't regular s3's???

and just a fyi s3's in det's or de's are only a few topend ponies behind s4's and give a FAT midrange to boot!

^Dude you get so bent out of shape about cams and sh*t sometimes. How do I know? I have drove three SR20 cars with S4's in them. I have drove a SR20 car with S3's and I currently have BC2's in my daily right now *hint hint*

I did feel the difference. For you to say it is only a few up top when you are talking turbo is kind of silly. Define a few to me? 10? 20? 30? with the S3 vs S4 talk. The only reason I don't have S4's is because every SR20 car I drove that had the S4's had the hunting idle. So you can keep your flame comment to yourself end of rant.

When i said i a few up top I meant compared to s3's not stock cams, which it isn't 30 more then the same car with one having s3's and one having s4's.Its probably more like 10, but the s3's will have a better midrange to make up for it.

And you didn't answer my question, which was have you driven a gtir powered car? I am guessing NO because its totally different animal compared to a de+t or avenir or bluebird det. Now as for s3m's there not like s3's in a regular sr. That is all i am saying bro.

Not trying to argue, but you should read my post more thoroughly before you comment, thats all.

lets move on.......Hope your enjoying those bc2's. Did you get cam gears yet so you can actually make some real hp from them???

I have owned DET motors on...
t25 (b13)
t25 (4 door B14)
t28 w/ s3 cams (4 door B14)
GT2871r .86 a/r w/S3 cams (no traction until fourth gear, but too laggy..I had full boost a hair after 4k rpm) (4 door B14)
GT2871r .64 a/r w/ S4 cams (S13)...

I HAD GT3071r....this will give you boost spikes and not ideal for T2 flanged...so I sold it and got the GT2871r.

I sold the cars and got a stock B13 and swapped a SR20VE motor and N1 cams into it...now I want to be turbo again...

My next setup will be an Avenir motor with GT28RS w/ S4 cams and call it a day...
GT2860r's are like fat kid on cake with our SR20DET's.

I am going with the gt2871r .86 a/r and a set of s3m cams. I will be looking for 350whp @ 18psi (on 93) and 400whp @ 22psi (on race gas)

Done deal!

Thanks guys for all your opinions, they were much appreciated

^I never said anything about stock cams because Miko posted S4's in post #63. No I haven't driven a GTiR powered car, but hopefully I will get to one day. How many GTiR's have you driven with different setups? I read post #62 throughly about you wanting to know if those numbers Miko posted from post #61 were with aftermarket, or stock cams. The in post #66 you were wanting to know if you would get close to the same numbers as the S4's using s3m's comparing by the same turbo the GT2871R.

My case in post #72 was that I felt that the S4's would give the better edge in the comparison. I feel the same N/A or Turbo, but N/A is canceled out in this case. This case would be GTiR vs DET using the same turbo but different cams right? You quoted my post #65 (that was a bit off topic) before I could edit it because I knew Andreas knew that and he was responding from his post #61 he made. The S4 comment through me off for a second and I thought he was suggesting you use them at first.

My post #68 was me feeling that S4's would pull away from s3m's around 6500 and that was all. I never said anything about stock cams as a comparison. I think I'm on the right page, but I do need to read up on the GTiR more. I wasn't trying to be a dick either, but all the question marks you made in your "And you know this how???" comment, made it seem like I didn't have any experience behind the wheel of these cams. Anyway I haven't bought any cam gears yet, but I will be getting some with a Calum ECU when the 10.1 drops in that is taking for every due to time. I just put the BC2's in the motor that is in my car now just to have something in the mean time.

Dude, way to much info in one thread.......I am done with this thread for the most part unless something really earth shattering is posted. I have decided to get the gt2871r .86 a/r with a set of s3m cams and call it a day....DONE DEAL!
First i have to get a new p/s pressure hose then drop those cams in(hopefully fix my timing in the process), then get my p11/b15 tranny, and last but not least get my gt2871r and run mid 11's all day long

Stop trying to take me to the dark side..................

Looks pretty impressive, but I think I have made up my mind and will go with the gt2871r. Only reason is I really don't want anything over 400whp (remember I have FWD not AWD) and the more i thought about it the more i realized that 400+ would just be plain overkill. I mean how many trannies and axles will I go through???? I just want a nice street driven 350whp, which a 28 will and can do. One step at a time man....

When I upgrade to a t3 flanged turbo the discussion will be alot more interesting.....!!
