Belt issue with alty.
I decided to take the car out for a spin from it's dirt nap to wake things up a little bit, and just enjoy the car. At least once every 2~3 weeks I throw the alternator belt off, and it disappears, so I know exactly how it's being thrown (if it's getting cut somehow, or if it's just stretching and getting too loose)

Any ideas on where I can get a pre-stretched belt? I don't have much room to adjust the alternator, and I'm using a 30.5" belt, vs. the 32.7" stock belt.

TIA

How many Ribs do the belt your buying have?

It only has 4 ribs. There's no A/C, and no way I could possibly find a 5 rib belt that's short enough.

Tekster let me find what belt im using... i ran into the same issue a little bit ago... it was stupid loose and cried like I beat it every start up. Are you using any pullies?

I just checked outside... I'm using the older UR underdrives for the crank and alt and have no A/C. After my trial and error, the belt number I'm using is a 4 ribbed belt 7608u66t. From what I remember it was a few mm smaller than what I found was suggested from an old thread I read. I'm pretty sure I picked it up from NAPA.

If you need the belt number I used w/ the stock pullies let me know.

The belt I'm using right now, is a 31" belt. It's really really tight now, but I know it will stretch a little in time. I think that's the problem Meeners, I'd be willing to try it out. Thing is I have only 1/4"-1/2" of travel for the alty. Too much down, downpipe contact. Too much up, and I hit the wastegate.

Edit: wierd phone double post!

Anyhow, I could loosen it, but not much. It'll rub against the downpipe. Wish there were some off sizes like a 4040312 or 4040313 I could try

If you get desperate you could play around with different alternators as different years have different pulley sizes. You won't be able to switch just the pulley either. Do you have the VE aluminum crank pulley from Greg V?
