W11 avenir vs built ve
The det bug bit me the other night while I was sleeping.

I'm in the process of running in my long awaited fully built ve motor. High CR 86mm, itb, fs4, full ems all motor, and now this bug comes along! WTF.

The fact that I can pick up a W11 motor for around $700 doesn't help either. If I just sold the cams and ITB's from my n/a setup I can already fund the entire det conversion so to speak.

So, for those of you who have gone this route, do you regret it? and what output do you typically get out of stock w11 motors with a few bolt ons?

Put it like this....the only reason I even own a VE is because I bought another car to put it in! The thought of a VE comes second to a DET in my head. I like being able to use my whole power band. Now take a VE head and put it on a DET block and....now your talking!

i sure it was mentioned that DET would be better than VE+T due to the lack of adequate cams for turboing a VE. But id rather have a built VE than DET that sound of those high lobes is enough for me to stay NA

Welcome to the dark side

I contemplated on this for over a year, VE, Bolt on DE, or DET.

When I first got the DET running it was awesome, btw I have a W11. I love how easily it spools, comes stock at 9psi so you should be making 200whp from the get go . My power down low is really good too, but that's probably because of the pulleys .

Current mods: W11 DET with Ball Barring T25, UR Pulleys 2 set, Thermoblok Spacers, FMIC, 2.5" VRS DP and 2.37 res-back, Calum RT ECU.

Right now I'm working on installing the Walbro 255lph fuel pump, so hopefully that will make sure the car is running fine again ( I lot a lot of torque/power after driving for a bit with stock fuel pump).

This is why everybody should have a fully bolted VE as a daily driver and a DE+T for a weekend warrior. This will be my final product when all said and done. Then to take a chick on a nice date, pull out the 5port and "whip it real hard whip it whip it reeeeeeal hard."

Well I have both so I can tell you what its like. I drive my ve car more because it fun and has a/c. Both of my cars have identicle suspensions(coilovers, bushings, sway bars), but I still find the ve car is more fun all motor. I still like my turbo car but its a pain in the butt to drive in traffic and there is no place I can open it up. I have been driving the turbo car for the past week while my ve car is getting painted and I can't wait to have my other car back. Also if you want a turbo car you might as well start out with a big turbo setup because once you get a taste of boost you will just want more. I am on my third turbo setup now and wish I would have just went with a sc61 to begin with.

Doctor I feel you buddy but I'm 2 steps ahead of you. I pulled My VE out of my other car to junk the chassis , My VE has been sitting for about 1yr . I'm Torn Between

Fully building N/A
Boosting my stock VE 10-12psi
dropping in the VE with minimal Bolt-ons (to sell it my B13,CTR EK Fever has been itching lately no thanks to the honda thread!!!)

Keep us informed

I went from sr20de+t to a sr20ve. The boosted car was faster but I am having more fun with the 20ve. Maybe because the boosted motor was in a bluebird with lowering spring and the ve is in a n15 with full coilovers.

Peace
