2871 t3??
I've been looking around on multiple forums for any results/dynos of a gt2871 with the t3 housing that atp sells. Sofar, I've found nothing, just some impressive .86 t2 numbers.

I realize garret spent lots of money in r&d for the t2's and for atp just to come out with a generic t3 housing may be a mistake.

Some background: I use my car for mostly drift, redtop sr, solid lifters, 9:1 pistons, aem ems, stock intake mani, and custom tubular t3 topmount. I got the turbo for a great price and I'd like to make 3071 numbers if at all possible.

Last year I made 290rwhp and 280rwtq at 17psi on a VF30 with mild antilag.

I'm shooting for 350rwhp and 310tq with stock mani, cams undecided, sub 15psi for next year with lots of over rev. 8200rpm maybe.....

Let me know what you guys think would be the best bet for housing and cams. (I tried to search this forum the last 3 days and something's up with it).

I wouldn't think twice about getting the ATP T3 housing if I had a T3 manifold and wanted to run smaller than a GT30 sized turbo. Housings are not rocket science. =]

Thanks for the reply Ben. I've always done out of the box turbo setups with so-so results and I just don't want this to be another one of them. I'm kinda sick and tired of changing **** up all the time and would like to see some hard evidence with dynos etc.

If anyone is interested, this was the turbo setup last year with the vf30

Completely buried bottom mount

Yah, sorry I don't have any hard numbers or first-hand experience. =(
I've had great experience with Turbonetics' custom exhaust housings. Used a split-pulse T4 flanged housing on a Garrett GT35 center section (Garrett supplies it with a non-split-pulse T3 housing) with community changing power output (boost onset wasn't so fast =/ ).
That's the best I've got for first hand experience with non Garrett housings on Garrett center sections.

I'd like to, but I already have a 2871. Maybe down the road.

My brothers S13 SR made 360whp and 275 rwtq with his GT2871R .64 A/R at 20psi.

Don't have the complete mod list but he has the freddy intake manifold, stock exhaust manifold, 2871r 64 a/r, different o2 housing, apexi gt spec exhaust with the resonator replaced with a straight section of 3" (the 3" to 3.75" one), greddy something or other FMIC, BC stage 2 cams, springs and retainers, plus a bunch more. I think his tune is an Enthalpy tune too.

PM Me if you want more details

I thought the CHRA for the 2871 was the same for the 3071, but the housings were different. In any case, I would just keep the 2871 unless you have a t3 manifold.

The compressor is the same, turbine wheel is bigger.

I made my own t3 manifold, sold the .86 t2 that was on the 2871 and looking for options as of now.
