Oil temp usually staggers behind water temp, and is slower to react so if it gets up to 240-250 I usually slow down so it is useful. If I were you though I'd be all about an NX radiator and a wideband rather than an oil temp gauge.

Yeah in my car I have an Autometer boost gauge/vac, mech oil press, and water temp. Then I have an AEM boost controler/gauges and a AEM wide band. With these gauges Ive been able to solve 100% of the little problems that pop up with a turbo car before I even popped the hood...from boost leaks to rad fans not coming on to vacuum hoses that popped off.

While I agree you might not NEED the gauges. Having them will save you alot of time. Also like Benitto already said. Checking them takes a split second once your used to where they should be. You feel the car doesnt feel right? Check your gauges and reasure yourself easily and quicky.

Also yeah pressure goes DOWN when the oil heats up lol. I can understand where you would think it would go up though...sorry I didnt clarify. I remember when I first got into cars I thought the oil press gauge would be throttle possition dependant like a boost gauge instead of RPM dependant

I guess the thing is, for me, if I want to know what's going on with my engine I just hook up the laptop and BAM!, instant gauges + logging ability. =/

If you don't have stand-alone, I guess you're stuck with gauges.

Tough to hold a laptop while drifting

I'd love to do an AIM dash with my aem, but gauges are a cheaper substitute right now.

If I had enough space, and a small enough laptop, I would hook it up to my real time and Run Nissan Data Scan day and night

Next big mod, touch screen tv inside the SE-L

No. You can log and do engine diagnostics with the Calum RT. You could set up an LCD and put up a bunch of stuff. Maybe there's room in the ash tray area or in the cluster. I may do something like this.

Then there's old school cool toys like those little black boxes. Plus they all look cool and they are fun to install.

i think that you would want to have some gauges in however to INSTANTLY know what's going on, instead of having to lug the laptop out. I plan on using my laptop for logging as well, but the use of gauges in-car is proven.

Yeah a friend of mine spend over $400 on computer/lcd, trying to make a multi media system for his Accord, after he got bored, he ditched it. So I doubt I'll want to do something similar learning from his experience hehe.

I build and tune reliable cars that don't have shіt go wrong with them on a regular basis necessitating the use of gauges at random times. =/

Your right everyone who doesn't want to wire in a stand alone and spend $25k on their SE-R in inferior.
