Running hot?
Ok, I recently did a gtir swap in my 91 se-r and am having multiple problems. One of my many issues is The car is running between 195 and 210 and once the fans come on they never turn off. I bleed the system a few times, the sensors were changed, and besides that I am using a autometer gauge anyway.

The only thing I can think of is I am maybe running a little to much timing maybe?? Anybody have any ideas or suggestions?

NX radiator w/ 2 12" pusher fans and a stock thermostat. Probably 70% water 30% antifreeze/coolant. I even added a bottle of water wetter.

195-210 is about the regular for a turbo car with the stock rad in summer time. But its not summer. Hows your compression?

165 across the all 4cyl.... just changed the oil lastnight because it was really black and there was NO sign of coolant in the oil. I also went from a 5w-30 to a 0w-40 weight. I am hoping the 40 w holds up better.

which temp sensor did you use? you need to use the usdm one

are you running the heat shields. it makes a big difference in underhood temps and not adding more heat to the cooling system. I would also wrap the down pipe if you have not done so already.

Not to be a diek, but if you read my original post you would know that answer and besides thats not going to affect the actual water temp. I am running a autometer water gauge and the stock one is actually reading ok because I am running the right sensors.

Running the stock gti-r manifold heat shield and have header wrap around the o2 housing and part of downpipe.
The water lines going to and from the turbo are also wrapped in rubber hose heat wrap that is protecting them from the heat down there.....

Now you see why I am getting fustrated......I think I might be running to much timimg on the distributor, so I am going to retime the distributor to 15-17*. I have been reading that you shouldn't run 20* on the ditributor in the us because our gas really sucks, so I was told to back it down and just run the 20* timing maps and not 20 mechanically ,If thats not it then maybe the thermostat might not be working right???? I don't know like I said its not overheating, but running to warm and when the summer comes 210 will turn into overheating.

I run full 20 degrees on my gti-r, but I use 94 octane. I run quite hot, but I've never had an issue with overheating. Maybe its time for some hood vents
