A KA24DET does everything better than a SR20DET. Well it does not throw out the rockers ( way better top end design it has no rockers ). Oh they dont toss bearings as quick. Oh they are cheaper.

A KA24DET will rock a SR20DETs world any place any time. The CA18DET can just go home as oit has about the same weight as the KA24DET and has way less power than the SR20DET

yeah they wouldn't be bad, but i would choose the sr20 purly on weight

now i am not saying that revs is better than torque, by any means, but i am saying that people want different things out of a car/engine.

also thats a over simplified explanation ever been is a diesel 4wd over a petrol one....the diesel make more torque...heaps more....what FEELS faster?

Yeah but the KA24 makes the big torque and HP. This aint no diesel. Why dont you take a look at some 500 plus HP KA24DET and tell me what you see.

I have personally driven a gq with a 4.2 ltr diesel and 4.2 litre petrol, and no it doesn't feel faster

yeah they do hold their torque pretty well to redline i wont debate that

but in some situations a revy car will be more fun, so the ka is not superior to the rb20. but designed differently this is all my point was

hell i dont even like the rb20

I say, work with what you have. If the car comes with a KA or an SR, just work with it, both of them can be made fast. I myself rather get a rev happy engine.

Like I said before the KA will run away from the SR no comparison. Build the ka your better off, or buy a honda if you want to get rev happy. By the way KA will be a better drift car because of high tq at low rpm,s (SR,s are always hitting the damn rev limit just to keep the wheels spinning) why do you think american muscle always win it aint the horsepower, its the instant tq at low rpms. Think im lying count how much sr powered cars they are in drifting now most are being replaced with 350z,s.

SR20,s perfect for fwd cars but not enough for rear wheel drive.

This thread was about KA vs SR. From What I have seen in my dealings with motors the KA24DE-T is the better build.

As far as KA24DE-T Vs RB20DET, the KA is far superior in every way when it comes to HP and Torque. That is not an opinion that is fact.

An RB20 motor has 2 more cylinder that hang about 12 inches further forward than the KA24 motor. The RB20 is alot heavier than the KA24 so not only is it heavier it put more weight further forward of the front wheels, this is fact. An RB throws off the handling of the car which is fact. I have driven in and have drove many of these cars and I know for a fact an RB motor handles like crap unless the proper spring rates are put onto the car.

Find me a RB20DET at 30 PSI with 600 WHP ( wont happen ) and it will have about 450 LB Ft Torque. I can find you a few KA24DET at 700 WHP with 700 Lb Ft Torque at 30-33 PSI.

Personal preferance aside an RB20DET does not hold a candle to a KA24DET.

With the advent of the VVL head the SR22VET would kill a KA24DET but cost is the problem and the price diffrence is huge. Even building a KA24DE-T vs a SR20DET to make 600-700 WHP the price diffrence favors the KA24DET buy alot.

I'll do you one better "When you" do one let me know. At this point your bench racing and I hate doing that.

I can talk about the rb vs sr though, and the sr WILL handle better than the rb not only because of the weight but because of where the weight is located...futher over the front wheels. To get the rb20 to handle well you need to play around with spring weights and modify the car a bit. There is a reason the sr20 is the most popular drift engine.

also blue240 if you s13 is handling like crap what mods are done to it? swaybars, cradle bushes and coilovers work wonders on the s13

Stock suspension so the car understeered just the same no more that before.

It doesn't matter It's just something to argue about. Don't know why I got sucked into this pointless bench racing lol. In the end we all know that the KA24DET just can't be beat. What was nissan thinking when they left that motor out of production.

You couldn't be more wrong.
