Nissan Cam Comparison - W10-W11 Owners Look!
Not too long a go LikeTheMovies asked me to compare the cam sizes between the 91 intake cam and the W10/W11 cam sizes. Well today I finally got around to getting the W11 measurements (I'm sure W10 is going to be fairly similar).

Take a look, I am quiet surprised.

91 Intake Cam from an NX2k (High Port)

99 Intake Cam from an SE-L (Low Port)

98-01 Intake Cam an W11 Avenir (High Port)

So what does this mean for Avenir owners? MORE POWER IS POSSIBLE FOR ONLY $50 SHIPPED!

I'm going to hold off on installing the 91 intake cam until I get a good tune on my Real Time ECU, then I will see if I can hit the dyno or Beltronics Accelerometer, then install the cam and drive for a week and get the numbers.

wow that sucks hahah so I was right with the whole lowport cam idea lol

I wonder if the W10 is the same.... hmm I'll see if I can find a dial caliper to measure it.

I wonder which cam my JDM engine has? It has the lowport style vc, and oil filter. It came with the internal coil distributor too. I'll have to compare.

I bet all the obd2 engines had the lowport cams

Interesting. Good research. Maybe this will increase the price of HP cams again

Why does it suck? It's a good thing, that means there is room for improvement!

Lets look at some numbers...

Bluebird U13: 206 BHP @ 6000 rpm/ 202 ft·lbf @ 4000 rpm
Avenir W10: 206 BHP @ 6000 rpm/ 202 ft·lbf @ 4000 rpm
Avenir W11: 227 BHP @ 6400 rpm/ 210 ft·lbf @ 4800 rpm

So if U13 and W10 make the same amount of power with say the 91 Intake cam, and the W11 makes 21 more BHP, with just the Ball Bearing Turbo, then there is a good amount of power left to get from just installing that cam!

Another way to look at it is, the 91 Intake cam gives you 8WHP NA, JWT S4's give you 15WHP NA. Now JWT S4's can do about 40whp with boost (I remember seeing this someplace, but please correct me if I'm wrong), then imagine what just the 91 intake would do

I would have to agree with LikeTheMovies on this one, sounds like all OBDII ones have smaller cams.

I'd say they the Highport cam gives about 15whp on boost on a lowport. My car dynoed 213whp with bolt on t25 setup with the cam. This was a 9:5 de but still seemed high to me.

Good info. I'll have to remember to hang on to the original highport cam in my current motor when I do the DET swap.

I was wondering if that's why your lowport hit 213, at first I figured because of higher compression
