Good work Vadim. Thats why someone on forum made about +30whp with BC stg2 cams in W10/U12.

MR-4Door-SR20DE - ive had S4 in my daily and it was ok. Idle was 900-1000rpm.

About S4 vs. BC stg2 - In NA, S4 made more power over stock from 4500rpm in my car. NA Dyno graphs ive seen with BC stg2 made more power maybe from 5500rpm..or higher. I think S4 is better for NA and BC stg2 better for turbo because they are cheaper and making good power for the money.

^red bold - I have the BC2's in my daily right now and they do ok. I keep hearing people say they are like S4's, but some people say the S3's will out do them. Anyway I want to get some S3's and do a dyno comparison to see which set come out on top. Then I'll sale the set I don't keep. S4's are not daily driver friendly with the idle for my needs unless you have it around 900-1000?

Whats so hard about keeping the idle at say 1000 RPMs vs the stock 850 RPMs. We are talking about 150-200 RPM change here.

S4s are the best all around turbo cam anywhere. I would run them on anything from a T25 up to a TO4.

Budget mined guys stay with some BC cams.

^Dude it's called testing over here. Not budget mined. I can buy a set of S3's and S4's brand new today and have all of them tested. Nothing is hard about bumping up the idle either. I know you know your stuff about these cams, but I was doing this to have personal experience, not from what I keep reading.

P.S. My daily is N/A. I already planned on running S4's on my turbo car, now what?

You do bring a good point, the gains are probably too neglectable in the boost world, it's way cheaper and easier to just crank up the PSI and call it a day.

^Dude who told you that LIE? Also S4's will walk away from S3's up top N/A or turbo.

^What do you mean by ok? Was it still lobey at 900-1000?

Seems like you took offense to Andreas's comment. 90% of people who build cars especially FWD SR guys are budget minded. There is nothing wrong with that. Some people like a bang for buck and others don't mind paying more for somthing they really want.

On topic with the JWT S4 cam it is hands down the best cam out for the DE in all aspects. NA they make great improvements. I for one gained 14 whp when I had my DE back in the days and on boost they perform even better.

^I agree on the budget part, but most Sentra guys lean towards being on cheap budgets. I don't really like cheap stuff. I'm cool with Dre, but by reading my post I could see how you would have thought that. I guess it was the last part of his post that could been read two different ways. It's not as many SR guys in my area. I only get to hear and drive cars at meets, or when I see happynole or nissansr20nx come my way.

^On topic - What did you have your idle it set at? Every car I have heard with S4's had a lobey/hunting idle. That is the only reason I went with BC2's and was leaning towards S3's. Then I started reading about people bumping it to 900-1000, but I haven't heard a set of S4's in a SR20 at that idle.

No sweat bro. I am just trying to keep the peace.

As for when I had my DE with S4's my idle was always at 900-950 more or less. I for one am a huge fan of the lopey S4 idle.

I have info to add to this thread.

I went searching for a '91-'93 cam as an upgrade for my two generations worse 1994 G20 cam (1994 G20 cam is same as 1995 SE-R cam I hear, which is even worse than the 1994 SE-R cam).

I got a '91 cam from MR4-Door-SR20DE (Reese) and did some measurements. The highest point on the cam is 1.517" (38.5318mm). Compare that to Vadim's 37.5mm and 36.5mm cams in the first post.

This measurement was confirmed by Reese as well (he'd measured it himself and wanted to hear what i came up with before telling me what he'd measured it as).

I then measured my 1994 G20 intake cam and came up with 1.495" (37.973mm) for it's highest point.

I was using metal, SI unit calipers good down to 0.001" (0.0254mm) and feel I did a good job of getting a proper measurement using all that I learned in High School science class.

I have pictures I will post later.

I know cam lobe height doesn't show the entire story here. Since these results were so surprising, I'm inclined to get a contour gauge and compare the lobes better taking duration into account too. I'll figure something out and report back.

A contour gauge isn't generally accurate. Invest in a micrometer set.
