Thread: !!!overheating still.....im stumped.......

ight well ive had this problem for a min everytime i turn the car on 1 min after the car is on the needle starts rising on the water temp..
ive changed the water pump the radiator and the themostat, blead the system and still no luck.. any imput?? anyone

I think you have in the wrong guage temp sensor. The motor is fine your guage is just reading wrong

When swaping a motor you must run the same guage temp sensor that came with your original motor.

The head temp sensor is the red or blue sensor on the pasenger back side of the motor ( This is the one that you will not change. )

The guage temp sensor is the one next to the head temp sensor that is a one prong sensor. ( This should be the culprit. )

So if you just did a swap take it out of the old motor and put it into the new motor. If you dont have it buy if from Nissan for you specific car.

91-92 has a Black ring on it

93-94 has a blue ring on it.

Please make sure to note that the 91-92 and 93-94 SER run diffrent sensors so be specific to your car and dont let them give you the wrong one at the dealer. Make sure that they identify that there are 2 diffrent part numbers for the diffrent years listed above.

95-99 SERs run the same thing so just say any of the years and you will be fine.

so you dont think it could be a head gasket problem?

question is did you swap the sensors?

you know the car is really overheating when the water in the reservoir starts to boil lol

Thing is that with a cold motor, there's no way your car would overheat, even with a faulty headgasket in one minute.

Swap your sensor.

really??? hmm....i am also having some excess warmth. i think i used the censor that came in my de-t. i will have to look into this. i know a boosted motor will run a little warmer, but mine seems to be running a little too warm. tomorrow i am rigging my autometer temp gauge to know exactly what temps she runs at.

really cant remember if i swapped the sensors or not... ill try and swap em this weekend.. is there a easier way to get the sensor out cause i was trying to do it and theres so much **** conflicticting with my wratchet

Is there really a diff in the sensors? I am still using my VE sensor that came with the motor. hmmmm. If your stuff is boiling it is def overheating. I would do a block check to make sure the head gasket isn't blown. Just to make sure.

I doubt his head gasket is blown. The car over heats in 1 min. That's not enough time for the engine to warm up so the temp could not possibly be high enough to boil water. My head gasket is blown and I can still drive fine for about an hr. before the coolant gets low and it will overheat. Probably just the sensor.
