You should be able to reach 350whp and beyond w/your turbo. If not, get an S4 cam that should get you there.

I have a gtir so I can't get s4s

I already have access to a 86, so it's no big deal I will try the 64 out and if I don't like it then I will just switch to the 86. As for the seller he supposely didn't know it was a 64, which I don't understand, but whatever I am getting 50 bucks back.

Hindsight is 20/20 I guess. I'd have loved to have known this ahead of time. As it is, I'm dealing with a 3" ATP outlet adapter mated to the T28. It works, but just barely, and only after grinding the block down all the way to one of the bolts holding the transmission to the engine. It's cool for flow and all, but really a 2.75" or even the stock GTi-R outlet pipe would have been a better idea.

Thanks for the response cortim1 and Charles.

Anyway, sorry for the thread jack. Back to business. :o

don't even bother with the .64 housing if you have a .86. swap the housing and drop in some s3m's and go.

I would have liked the 3" housing because they offer it in a anti surge housing but it was not worth the hassel. here you go ben. I must have done a little grinding may be a 1/8"

The 3" inlet comp housing turbo's fit best on a bluebird manifold.

The .64 does spool faster than the .86, but you can have boost creep issues.

The .64 CAN make 400whp but you need the right parts and a bit more effort but I dont feel its worth it because of the higher backpressure.

The .86 housing does make 30whp peak bolton over the .64 housing on a typical DET, S4 setup.

A .86 housing with S4 cams will make more power AND SPOOL FASTER than stock cams with a .64 housing ( in my testing atleast).

A .64 housing 2871 is a bit more of a comp flow/turbine flow miss match and a .64 28RS does perform better than the .64 2871.

There are also 3 different varriants of the 71mm Comp wheel in the 2871 and they all perform differently. One has slightly more flow than a GT28RS but is a lot laggier than a GT28RS but only makes another 10-15whp over the DPT, the other 2 wheels can make more power, but you are usually limited by the turbine side or other limitations with the motor before getting close to the max compressor flow.

This turbo is like having a supercharger on your car spools fast with alot of torque. Serbans friend Robert has the .86 AR on his sentra making 380 WHP at 17 PSI, not bad and spools fast to.

The turbo that sucks is the GT2876R also known as the GT2840R (HKS). This turbo sucks as there is a complete mismatch in wheels. I ran one of these turbos and it did make great HP but up on the top side had boost creep.

Posted in this same thread to back up Snikers finds.

When you go GT2871R get the .86 AR turbine housings and get it with the 3 inch inlet. The 4 inch inlet is more hasel and a waste of time. I would only go 4 inch inlet on a RWD setup.

Looks like I am changing from the 64 to the 86. I wish the guy would have sold me the proper turbo like he said.......I was told i was getting a 86a/r then as soon as I get the turbo I look inside and what do i see.....64. I really don't wanna give it up because its in good condition and it was cheap! Luckily my buddy has a 86 I can swap with him!

Sell the gt28. It shouldn't be very tough to get most of your money back.
