high idle
so, I drove the car today...was idleing fine. I do have a cel for the o2 sensor that is making it run really rich. I got on it today to beat some traffic in front of the mall of all places and when i let off to sit at the next light the idle stayed up at 3k. I turned the car off at the light and started it back up and the idle stayed up at 3k. I went in the mall and came out about an hour later and the idle was back to normal. Is it possible that for some reason the o2 sensor started working after i got on it and kept the idle up high? I don't get it.

I have the same issue, Sammy. I wanted to believe it was something to do with the ECU. I'm almost 100% positive I have a vacuum leak at a solenoid, or something. When Calum changed the base idle on my ECU, which should have changed the running idle on the car (it was running when he changed the idle), the car did nothing, but continue to idle around 1500rpm. Obviously, this means that the ECU has no REAL control over the car's idle, and thus there's GOT to be a vacuum leak somewhere.

haha, how in the hell am I going to find a vacuum leak in a solenoid? I'll figure something out I guess.

High idle and idle hunt generally mean problems between the air regulator and more likely IAA. The IAA thing adjusts idle for different things like warm up and functions mostly on its own but does receive some signals from the ECU.

IMO since your O2 is bad fix that and go from there. A bad O2 will make your car run rich and like poo if at all. And check for boost leaks since you are under the hood of your car that will also contribute to running rich.

i agree with the hunting idle could be contributed to the air regulator.

\i read where you can pull the air regulator tube and spray some carb cleaner into the hose and it cleans the air regultor, only thing i donno if i would do that or not. but on nissanforums someone said that its a good way to fix that problem i donno tho otherise you gotta pull that air regualtor whih isnt fun

not a hunting idle, idle just hung up at 3k. I'll try the carb cleaner thing I guess. It doesn't do this all the time though....

Again, I have the same exact issue. Has to be related to a vacuum leak, IMO.

Sometimes it sticks at around 2200~2500rpm, and after giving it some gas a few times, it drops back down. Other times, it just sits there until I shut off the car, and start it up again.
