Intercoolers Brand Name/Ebay
I was on another forum and got into discussion about intercoolers and which brands are better cooling, more power, iat, all that good stuff, so I figured I'll post up the links and share the information. A lot of people are fans of the Ebay intercoolers(even thought there not ebay brand just various companies), you will see the difference between them and a brand name one, and you get what you pay for. I know most of you fwd sr20 guys are cheap and love those ebay ones, just check it out.

I love the Ebay IC's.

My cousin uses one on his 800+ whp Integra.

You can see the IC in this pic. Does really well for a $100 IC

again, never said it won't hold, read the threads i posted, some saw a 30 to 60whp gain, and for those couple of seconds down the strip might not make a difference, if you autocross or roadrace you deff will

Great post, a few of my friends and I were discussing this earlier tonight. It's not how much power you make with a cheap IC, it's how much you could be making with a better IC. A VERY important element to a good turbo system, and ALWAYS overlooked as something that just needs to get you buy. I can understand not everyone can afford good quality or even the right size IC, but not enough people understand the importance it can play. Definitely something us ve guys need to keep in mind if we go turbo with stock internals. Keeping those IAT's low will be very important under higher compression.

Thanks for the links, really appreciate it!

i have the ebay intercooler on my car and have been meaning to upgrade to a precision unit, but one thing i think is that it gets really hot after one run and doesnt disapate the heat fast enough, i have noticed on my runs the first run i always have the best mph and second run the mph is lower and 3rd run gets lower i think the intercooler heats up faster then it cools down, maybe it has something to do with the inlet and outlet on the bottom and not in the middle like other intercoolers ?

I know that if the intercooler is made well they can flow very decent even if the inlet and outlets are not centered. This can be done with careful calculations and baffles in the endtanks to properly dissipate the air entering the intercooler. So remember, just because they are off center doesn't mean it will never flow/cool well. Chances are, since most intercoolers these days are cheap, they probably don't have any sort of baffling inside....

Interesting comparison about your 1/4 times. If you think about 250+ deg air running through, it might make sense a properly designed intercooler becomes very important...air is not the best way to transfer heat, so its not as simple as say a radiator.

i like my ebay intercooler, i just cant see shelling out $650+ on a intercooler. Id rather go air to water for that much money.

^^^I agree with you bro, I wasn't always against ebay intercoolers and then saw these threads that i posted and just changed my mind completly. Now, my old turbo car I had a spearco that i got brand new for $300 on ebay that was good for 700hp, so if you look around you can find a decient deal, problem is, the more power your making the higher your gona have to pay for an ic. My new turbo car I'm getting a precision 750 core for $400, can't go wrong with that.
