Thread: cool product

I am running blow thru with the BOV to atmosphere. I know that the valve is open at vac, and while it's probably a long shot, I don't like the idea of it. When I first got the Type RS, while I really like the quickness of it, I didn't like the fact that it sits open. I messed with it for ages, all different adjustments, followed the threads about pulling one spring out, etc. etc. I either lost performance and got a sludgy valve with a lot of flutter or an open valve. So I chose open valve and good performance from the bov. I do like the idea of having something clamped shut whenever there is vac on the charge pipes. Just call me nuts.

If the BOV is open at idle the air is still blowing out the BOV. At no pint is air being sucked into the BOV.

Yes the intake manifold is seeing vacum and thats to the TB, but infront of the TB to turbo the motor is seeing 0 plus boost. The reason why the BOV is cracked open at idle is because the turbo is still turning and air is being compressed however little into the pipe and it pushed on the BOV spring and it cranks open a hair and you have the leak. Remeber that the vacum hose on the top is really negating thats springs pressure when under serious vacum at idle, so you have a leak.

These are my opinions.

hmm, I guess I always thought that the vac from the IM was pulling the valve open, and that the vac condition would continue up to the turbo, resulting in both an open valve and a vac thru the valve... i see your points tho.

The valve is open due to the vaccum from the intake mani holding it open, but "there is no vac inside the piping before the throttle body to suck anything in," like miko said.
