It isn't nit picking... it is a legit question to figure out what is wrong. If you can't answer it we can't answer you. 10inHg is bad 10psi is ok... It is diagnostically relevant.

Now it is 8? Dude if you can't bring information to us we can't help. 8psi would be 16 inhg and make sense.

And it does matter what units you call it...

whatever, this is pointless. your right im wrong. anyways, ON THE GAUGE it reads 10 in hg. i usually refer to it as pounds of vacume,m if thats wrong, then im saying it wrong. doesnt change the number the gauge is reading. which is too low, my other 3 cars read about 18. which is where i got the 8 from, i weas refering to the leak itself. WHATEVER.

No, that's perfect. But 16inHG is about the lowest "normal" vacuum you should settle for. I know a few GTi-Rs idle at 16inHG and they are fine. 18inHG is what you want idealy. 'Course, if you have big cams that would drop it down some.

basically, i had a good running setup on a na motor, i switched EVRYTHING....sensors, manifold ect. now it runs like garbage. not just at idle, but everywhere. car is undrivable.

could be your rings. As my DE started to die, the idle got progressively worse, progressively lower vac, and worse and worse running. conditions. Have you done a compression check lately? Might be worth checking... just to rule out the worse case scenario.

ok, so what should i be looking at if my vacume is at 10inHG? im out of ideas.....dont have a consult handy, nor do ihave a wideband.

i guess i should point out that the motor had 150 across when i last checked it. everything was identical. cant remember what a fresh avenir SHOULD be, but thats the numbers i got when i checked it last.

i think 130-150 is normal, so your comp check is good. If you switched all the sensors over, you might have a grounding issue. I've seen those cause bad idle. You might want to try something like regrounding your MAF and/or checking all the ground points on your harness. Also, I think that if your water temp sensor was bad it would keep the car in cold running mode, where the a little extra air is allowed in, the vac is lower for sure, and I know it causes stumbling running. Dunno if you've checked that. I didn't read back real close...
