JDM Avenir motor does not IDLE! Help!
Okay guys, so here is the question.

So im finally done swapping the avenir silver top into my cousin's 92 sentra se-r and now when i start the car up, it won't stay on or even idle and the car would shut off. So i re-checked everything and everything seems fine and correctly installed. After a few minutes, I checked the throttle, and the plate inside is closed all the way. I then decided to open the throttle plate partially and then gave the car a second crank and it IDLED!!!

So the question is, why does it do that? and is the plate suppose to be partially opened? I know my 200sx SE-R has it completely closed.

The idle circuit might not be working.
Try adjusting the TPS.

Mine wouldn't idle, it ended up being a vacuum leak post MAF, TPS out of spec, and a leaky BOV diaphragm.

Yep and recheck the idle air system since that will cause the same problem.

Flow restrictor
Hey check the flow restrictor in the idle system because the avenir engines doesn't use that one. You can use the restrictor used before and install it on your det. That is located between the iacv and the air intake of engine in that hose, down in the intake manifold. Put that in your avenir engine and start idling. That also happened to me. It seems that the ecu of those engines doesn't need that restrictor. It has a plug be sure to conect it to the wiring.

Can you elaborate on this? Is the restrictor IN the hose?

If i'm not mistaken, it's a funny little square box with hose fittings on it and a single electrical connector. On the DE it has a little bracket to the bottom of the mani, but on the DET (on my avenir anyway) there's none. I just put it in there and left it hanging. I can't see it going anywhere or causing any problems. Also, you're gonna want to get it into timing mode and reset the tps, reset the IACV, and then adjust the idle set screw in the IACV. I had serious idle problems with my car once and resolved them by doing those steps, in that order. Let us know how it turns out!
