Thread: Well it's time to rebuild....

Just got home tonight and car started smoking and running like crap. Pulled the plugs #3 spark plug has oil on it. Need some suggestions on what I should do.

Rebuild this one?
Buy a turbo motor?
Buy Another DE and turbo it?

Need some suggestions. It's not knocking yet, but it sounds like crap.

Did you compression test it? A blown turbo can do that same thing, they can spew oil into the intake and get on to the plugs as well

As for motors I would go for a jdm de unless I came across some really nice deal somewhere like someones partially built motor or just something low miles

on only number 3? i checked all of them and its the only one. its like a brand new gt28r and its not smoking like when i blew my t25 either but i am planning on compression check

I would totally buy a stock det and swap your parts over. Better compression for turbo, still really cheap, oil squirters etc. Its a more sound choice imo. But a de will do fine and will be cheaper. You just can't squeeze more than 16psi or so on pump.

thats the problem i'm having . oil in the throttle body, but no oil in the spark plugs.

What are the symptoms of a blown motor?

The car will run really poorly for one. If it is slowly going you will notice worse and worse gas mileage. When you compression test at least one cylinder will have more than 20psi difference. There are different problems that can cause all of these, but it is best to judge by the compression test.

91grayDET do you have an oil separator? How much oil are you seeing, a lot? Chances are your oil separator is set up right the seals on your turbo are going. Do you have stock oil lines? If you don't have an oil restrictor you can also have this issue
