Thread: copper rtv on intake manifold question

im waiting on a new intake manifold gasket, and it will take a week or so. im having trouble to get my old one to seat properly, its a little warped. i was considering using the copper rtv silicone to help make it seal better, but im concerned about fuel. any opinions? ive seen a few of my friends use it on the same area, but their cars arnt running right now.....just wondering if anyone had any experiance with something like this.

it should be fine. make sure the sealant says fuel resistant and your good to go. The only way you run into trouble is with it using it on the exhaust side it will take the o2 sensor with the wrong stuff after a while.

Yes you can use it but apply a light coat. BTW use the grey RTV sealant..it works wonders.

Don't use copper on the intake! Use the grey or black.

what these guys said. i use the ultra grey on everything. the orange/copper looks like **** and a hack job to boot.

Yeah avoid the Red sealant, it doesn't look too good haha.

LOL. yeah, it works, but something about the red says" thrown together in a flash because all i had saturday night at 2 am was this"......"need more beer!"

The red sealant from Nissan is some of the best out there, who cares about the color? black or grey work fine, no need to use copper
