Wastegate is fine... I decided to take some things apart yesterday and check...

There was one bolt that was loose on the chra->turbine housing.... I doubt it would cause NO boost though. I tightened it and every other bolt that was on the turbo... I figured since I would be changing the water pump i might as well just yank everything off. There was a small exhaust leak at the exhaust gasket on my #1, so I got a new thicker gasket and I'm going to try again.

I will be putting everything back together hopefully this weekend. I'll remove all my couplers and retighten them all again - pressure check one more time before I head out... and if I still have a problem, then I will likely send the turbo out to a local inspector.

There was no symptoms of low compression, the coolant was super green, and the oil is perfectly normal... No oil blowby in my pipes, no black smoke, awesome vac? Well see this weekend

1. Yanked the radiator, pulled the exhaust, drained coolant, yadda yadda yadda

2. Pulled off the turbo and manifold... hoping to find something out of the ordinary, but no.

3. Flapper is intact and flush with the housing... seals fine.

4. Figured since it was down I would change the water pump... it started making noise after 2 years or so.

5. Autozone W/P ftw... I've been using one in my other car for almost 3 years now.

6. Impeller is literally identical...

Oh man water pump in car. Looks like fun. I think your car is a hypochondriac.

Howcome you don't have the turbo gasket with the tabs that lock the nuts up?

Yeah, its a lot easier with no p/s crap in the way... it's actually not that bad. I still cracked my first fingernail busting one of the bolts loose... that bish!

Ha ba wha??? I'm not sure which gasket you are talking about.

It isn't a gasket. They make a sheetmetal part that goes under the nuts and have tabs that bend up to keep non-flanged nuts from rotating... They are great and all but they don't last but a couple of times being folded before breaking and I've never seen them for sale.

They are an OEM nissan part that came on the 300zxtt. It folds around and holds your nuts on. I didn't run it and guess what, my dam turbo fell off. Yes, I was driving and all of a sudden no boost and it was hella loud. Luckily there is no room or it would have dropped to the ground.

I paid someone to put it back on and after torquing the nuts he put a tack on each nut. That bitch ain't coming off now. If I ever need to seperate it I will have to grind the tack but it's small so shouldn't be too difficult.

As far as the boost goes I was swearing it was the wastegate being open. How about the BOV? Maybe that is pissing your boost away?

If there is a high deman I could make them. I could waterjet cut them out of aluminum or stainless. Probably would be hella expensive though. And you would have to bend them your self.
