Thread: fpr and guage questions

I'm about to get my car off these damned blocks for the first time in a long time...upgraded turbo with 520cc injectors running at .4 bar. .4 bar translates to what in psi? Also I have a nismo fpr that mounts on the fuel rail, where do I need to put my fuel pressure guage to messure the amount of fuel going in to the rail... what's the best way to do this? Vacuum hose off...set fuel pressure...guage goes where? I guess if I had to I could just adjust my fpr until my car runs stoich on my wideband right...or rather 12:1, richer is safer.

1bar = atmospheric pressure at sea level 14.7psi and 4bar = 14.7 x 4

I'm not sure on the Nismo FPR but on my Aeromotive FPR it screwed into a port on the FPR itself. If there is no port IMO install the gauge inline in the fuel hose from the fuel pump.

To set the FPR you have it pull the vacuum hose and plug it. Adjust the FPR to 4 bar (58.8psi)

Wouldn't this only read the fuel pressure coming from the pump and not going into the rail??

Good point I forgot the nismo piece mounts on the fuel rail itself right? (The Aeromotive mounts where ever and you just run the hose.) Do you have a pic of the Nismo are there any unused ports?

you put the fuel pressure on the inlet side of the fuel rail, so the line with the fuel filter, put the a t and gauge right between the rail and filter

and i think 4 bar is right around 57-58psi

58.8=4bar

This would be the obvious place to put the guage, but it's still before the fpr. How can i read what the fpr is set at if the guage is behind it and not between the fpr and fuel rail?

The fuel rail is pressurized with fuel and what is not needed/excess pressure is returned to the fuel tank.

gotcha, but now...i set the fpr at 59psi w/ the vacuum unhooked and plugged as the fuel pump primes...then when i start the car with the vacuum on it wants to jump up to 70psi for some reason. I've checked for blockage in the lines and etc. possible that my fpr is bad??

figured it out...the inlet for the fpr had been crushed slightly and was making the fuel pressure unmanageable. Heated and pushed it back out...works fine. Now I've got a maf problem...but at least she'll idle now.
