pulling codes
pulled the codes today on the u13, with calum basic. I got rear o2 and egr which is no big deal, i've spoken with him about this. But I also got front o2 and the park neutral switch. I just put a brand new o2 sensor in it so I know that it has to do with the way it is wired up. I took the Bluebird harness o2 connector off and spliced it into my extension so I would have a plug on both ends and swapping the o2 would be simple. Is this the reason why I'm not getting a reading from the o2? The car is running really rich throwing out 4 ft. flames and getting horrible gas mileage. Is there a certain guage wire that i'm supposed to use for the extension? Guy at advance said that these o2 sensors are very particular about the length of the wires. Would I be better off just using a wideband and a piggyback to tune and not even worry about the o2? Park neutral switch is no biggie i'll just replace it.

most o2 sensors are picky about the resistance in the wire. I'd assume that's whats doing it. Check voltage at the ECU, and then at the sensor, see if there's any continuity problems, or if the voltage drops at the ecu.

What if the voltage does drop...? Then what?

Do you have consult software and a cable? If you do check the o2 sensor readings. They should constantly do a full sweep at idle. If it's not either the sensor is ng or it's the wiring job.

Keep in mind, that the full sweep shouldn't exceed over 1 volt, and shouldn't sit up over 1 volt at all.

Your best bet is to get an extended o2 sensor. I'm not sure if the 300zxtt primary o2 sensor will work on your particular setup, but I'd imagine that it would be fine. I had to purchase one for my setup, because of my splice, like you have done. Mine ran really wierd.

I was going to say mine sweeps between @.2v and .8V or there abouts (I'm using ecu talk to check the sensors so it will sweep the full gauge). When my o2 sensor went bad it sat like a rock at .4v and it would only jump up a few .*v after I blipped the throttle.

The splice job could also be suspect.

Agreed, though when my splice job was the culprit, coupled with an already failing o2 sensor, my o2 voltage wouldn't drop below .8v, and would hover between .8v and 1.2v

I was actually very happy with the splice job...I'll try to 300zx thing though, you got a part # tek? Is it like a '96 TT 300zx front o2? that work? Still have the stock bluebird set up on it. And will this "extended o2" reach my harness??

I don't have consult software, not sure how to work all that. Planning on a datascan, but it doesn't monitor voltage on the o2 and maf and things right?

Sammy, I don't have the part number off the top of my head. Give me a minute and I'll get it for you.

Bosch 13091

Nissan part #: 2269048-P11

Recommended NOT to get it at the stealership. Much more expensive there.

Auto zone, checker, etc. all carry the same Bosch o2 sensor (the OEM is even made by Bosch...)

Hope that helps. It's about 4"~6" longer, as far as harness goes, btw. I didn't really measure it, but it works perfectly.
