My VE-T build. Thoughts?
Copied this over from the old forum to continue on it.

Hey guys, I was just thinking up a VE-T setup. It will be very similar to Big John's Setup, if not pretty much the same. I am running a 98 SE with the stock tranny. So here goes. If I am missing something, please let me know. My goal is within 20whp of 280, whether more or less. I'm not looking to go much past 7psi, since I will not be doing internals just yet. I'm trying to get this very well documented and planned out, so it can go as smooth as possible. And I will be adding piece by piece opposed to putting it all on at once and trying to find a needle in the haystack when its running rich or lean or not idling etc. etc.

- BB Mani. (will this need to be port matched? no big deal)
- BB t25 with oil/water lines
- 2.5' DP to go with the rest of my 2.5" exh.(maybe 3" later on")
- BB injectors (370cc)
- Calum realtime ECU
- Intercooler (not sure what to go with on this one. Not looking to hack up my front end tooo much)
- An older Blitz turbo timer

Thats all I can think of right now. Are there any details anyone could add?

If there are any additions parts or anything please make suggestions.
Does anyone have info, or links to info about tapping the VE block for oil? (pics would be nice )
Suggestions on size/type of fittings etc.?
Whats the best/easiest way to setup the water lines?
Will the 370s hold up to 280hp? or should I go bigger? 370s already on the way, but I could work something out.

Any input, info, or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. This will be my first turbo car. Thanks guys

****EDIT**** I will be adding info/changed plans here.

- 444cc injectors (370s will be close to maxed)
- 28x5.5x2.5 Bar/Plate Intercooler

I have absolutely NO experience on the VE, but for a DE what you are asking is pretty much impossible to get 280-300hp out of a T25, especially on 370cc injectors - I'd say guaranteeing a new motor and new turbo by trying. No way in hell to hit it on 7lbs either.

So unless that VE in front of the T makes a HUGE difference I think you will have to set your bar lower, or start upgrading the turbo, injectors, exhaust size and boost level for your project.

Where is the turbo FAQ when we need it?

*sigh* - go visit the old site and find the turbo faq, start reading.

intercooler looks relitivly small to flow almost 300hp

I concur.

Ol'Skool guy by the name of Dougnosser was able to squeeze 272 whp in his 200sx by pushing the limits of that turbo. IIRC, he was boosting 14 psi on a DE.

It will suffice for 300. That is about it.

Well first of all I said my goal was anywhere within 20hp of 280. Meaning anywhere from 260-300. I think I should be able to hit 260 on 7psi. And read the whole thread. I already changed my plans from 370s to 444s. I will probably end up running 10psi for the track etc. and 7psi daily.
Big John was making 238 with a ROUGH tune, 370cc injectors and a G20 ECU. I will have 444s a good tune and a calum RT ECU.

i think if you are looking to make 260hp its pheasable at 7psi. 260hp with 15% drivetrain loss is around 221whp which is pheasable.

Heres Serban's thread. He was making 238 with a ROUGH tune, 370cc injectors and a G20 ECU. I will have 444s a good tune and a calum RT ECU.

OK, don't come here asking advice and then turn around and be a dick.

When I posted the only "edit" you had said "look what came in the mail today" You merely asked if 370s would be enough, you didn't state you were going up to 444cc. You also stated you did not want to go any further than 7lbs.

At 444cc yes, you should be able to keep from melting the cylinders.

Next time I'll pull a quote, it's aggravating to have some newbie come back and tell you to read the whole post when THEY edited it after the fact.

Good luck with your build.

Now you are talking... if you are measuring 260-300bhp and only want 220 whp then yes, you can pull that on your existing setup.

If you want 260-300 WHP then it's time to start upgrading.

I don't even bother with bhp numbers, what you put down is what matters.
At 14lbs, JWT tune on my old T25/T28 hybrid put down 296whp. There is no way in hell a straight T25 at 7lbs can hit those type numbers.

yea i see so many people who are talking or at least they post the numbers they want and say well 300hp. well i dont know if they know that 300hp and 300whp are 2 different things because they arent taking into consideration for drivetrain loss..so its hard to answer peoples question because you dont know if they are talking bhp or whp
