Thread: Thinking cheap build.

Got a gtir head laying around thinking about throwing it on a junk yard de block with studs, cheap high comp pistons, rod bolts and vet gasket. Then direct port 150 shot... Should be awesome while it lasts. What do you think?

I think if you're going to destroy a motor, don't bother with fortifying anything and just use the VET gasket but nothing else. Maybe drill and tap the block to use the GTI-R (thicker 12mm) head bolts or whatever that takes, but use stock everything else. Go with a dual stage or tri stage or progressive controller and it could last for ever.

Excellent advice. I have the old stock gtir head bolts ill use those and tap the block. Ill see if I can find some cheap sr16 pistons and put them in as well as a decent head gasket. Actually I think I have a det cometic I never wanted to use. Thanks man you are exactly right.
