Newb to nitrous. Need guidance
Alright well all help is much appreciated. Just picked up another B13 and it came with a 65 wet shot kit hooked up ready to go and has been used plenty of times by the previous owner. With a walbro 255 on a relay.

Being new to it and knowing what its capable of I need assurance.

Bottle pressures...I live in az and its a constant 105 out lately. It has a burst disk on it. Am I safe when not in use to have the car sitting in the garage? Tips please

When I go to the track, will they be ok with the burst disk? Just vented into the trunk? Or invest in a blow down setup?

Bottle pressures. What am I aiming for? It has a bottle heater...safest but best power?

When I get my bottle filled since the system is not purged do I want to unhook the line when I pressurize the bottle and give it a couple shots to make sure I'm pure nitrous?

Its off a wot switch and I've already reset it and made sure everything works...what rpm should I wait for? I'm guessing at least 3k?

Its already running bkr5e's do I want a colder/hotter plug? I'm going to run 100 octane. Where does my timing go? 5 degrees back from stock?

Very big thank you! Used to boost...and scared of nitrous but die'ing to hit it.

You should probably go to bkr7e's and retard the timing to around 12-13* for a 65 shot.

Yeah what he said. As for the burst disc, it shouldn't get hot enough to burst in the garage. Depending on the track, they may want a blow down tube, or just a vent to the trunk if that's not where the bottle is already. Some tracks pay no attention either way. Only spray WOT, which should never be under 3k rpms anyway lol. If I missed anything let me know, I'm drinking lol.

i just said screw it and ordered a proper blow down setup and a purge kit, so those are taken care of.

im mainly just scared of it blowing up the rear half of the car, i saw some pics the other day and its like holy cow i dont want that bottle exploding when im not using it.

Do you have a gauge? For reference the burst discs aren't supposed to pop till 3kpsi.

If the car is sitting for short periods you will be fine so long as the bottle is off. If the car is sitting for a long time you should maybe disconnect the fuel and nitrous line from the intake manifold just because the fuel vapor could cause the solonoid seals to fail.

You will be ok with just the burst disk. If you can find a hose to fit over the burst disk section tie it together with a hose clamp, you can save your self $40-50, that's how much a blow down tube usally goes for. It should be vented outside of the car for ovious reasons. Unless you like breathing in sulfur... ...not recommended by the way.

(900-1100psi)

Just buy yourself a purge kit it will be less head aches. Use the money you save from the blow down tube. You can pick up a nice kit off of ebay.

3k or above will be a good starting point for you. As you gain more expirence you could possibly go lower.... Maybe....

Use NGk BKRE7E's why take any chances? The general rule for retarding timing is 2 dergrees for every and up to a 100 shot. Someone correct me if I am wrong though. All this is common knowledge I do not know no more than anyone else on this page.

So what kind of parts did you order? and how much did you pay? you can't just leave us out in the cold like that. Where's the chinchilla?

ya your going to need a blow down tube if you plan on running at speedworld, also make sure that the bracket the tank is sitting on are really secure, i was pulled aside and made retighten the bolts during inspection.

also im not 100% on the length but the blow down tube needs to be a certain amount of length out of the car. i had a long ass tube and it wasnt a problem but they did mention that to me..

if your going to break into the 13s you have to bring a helmet btw..

Ill snap some pics for you guys eventually.

Thanks for all the help

I ordered all zex parts and went with the blow down setup, and their purge kit. Install went perfectly and its purging through the driver side windshield sprayer

I did go out to firebird and they were fine with the setup. The blow down tube i had drilled and didn't realize if the thing popped it was dumping the whole bottle onto a hot ass exhaust pipe, so i just heated the tube and bent it, perfect now.

JDM DE with bolt ons. We were going super easy on it because its the stock clutch, but on the motor we ran 15.8ish. Then opened the bottle and starting running 15.2's but we were also shifting into 2nd at like 4,000 and then flooring it for the spray. The last run of the night (still not launching at all, just letting the clutch out) ran a 14.8

Horrible times but trust me easily 13.8 possibility, we went out there with the idea of blowing the motor, and once we opened the bottle, just chickened out haha. plus i dont think the clutch would have held. let it out a little faster than normal but still at like 1300 rpms. kept away from the spray in 1st, hit it in 2nd and 3rd.

I smashed a LS civic, and pulled 3 cars on a srt4. the run against the neon my coil to distributor wire popped off and lost power shifting into 3rd. he wasn't catching up though and he said he ran a 14.2

I can see how people get addicted to this stuff. bottle has been filled twice in one weekend once it pops time to swap in the avanier

speaking of which, anyone ever spray an internally stock det with a 50 shot? i want to keep the setup even when im boosted???
