Winging it almost always leads to disapointment. Sounds to me like you were caught up in the tourist trap, which mean you weren't willing to go look for things, just expected them to be there.
Next time leave the kids @ home and just go with the wife.
I don't have high expectations. I just expect such a town to be WAY better.
In Miami, the people that run a business seems they don't need the tourist money when that whole town depends on it.
And NO amount of trip prep is going to prepare you for ****ty attitude and a dirty city.
I've done my bit of traveling
Been back to Guyana where I was born, for a third world country it still looked better then Miami, the people were nicer and the food wasn't $50 for a burger.
England, It's a great country, people are cool, nice places to see and for where we were "London" they city was fairly clean and the food was also good.
And all the venues we went to the people treaded us with respect.
Also been to Jamaica... I was in Jamaica for almost two weeks in Old Harbour which isn't a resort.
Had a great time, Weather was obviously good, food was good.
Some of the people can be scary but it wasn't that bad.
And again, the vendors at least act like they wanted us in their establishment.
And what part of Miami Will Smith talking about in his song?
