Dang, so there's a possibility an impound lot can steal cars and strip them, then get more money on top of that to buy back the stripped car?

I need to open an impound lot.

He's gotta pay the tow yard for the tow and how long the car was in there property. When they stole my wife magnum we were charged towing and impound fees per day.

Sorry to hear about this, if wencould only find a lead to who's stealing them.

Damn, that is completely fucked up. I am terribly sorry for your loss. That feeling of being violated and having your possession taken from you and mutilated is something I could not emotionally handle without bringing a harsh physical response to someone. Every day, check craigslist for parts and find the person who you think did it.

I have had full coverage on my SE-R since day one and it will remain there until the state says I can no longer drive it for whatever stupid reason.

Unless you have an "agreed upon value," you may simply be throwing money away.

If the car is deemed to be worth $1,000 by the insurance company, that's all you're going to get. And that's if you have no deductible. If you do, take that off. A $500-1,000 deductible isn't too uncommon, and say you have a $750 deductible, then you get $250 as a payout. And you probably paid more than $250 for that insurance over a couple of years in the first place.

Man that really sucks.Believe me ,I know how you feel.
At least you may be able to get the shell back.
My car was stolen from out in front of my house and raped of the engine/drivetrain and wheels before the rest was burned to the ground!!
The dumbass theives burned as much value as what was stolen off mine.Mint interior full aftermarket suspension, brakes, etc were all left to burn.License plate was still on the burned car.NOTHING was salvageable.
The pisser was that the alarm was less than a week from being finished.90% of the alarm was installed, but I was waiting on a harness to get it working..

as for the towing...yup had to pay for the towing bill.
I did manage to talk to the owner of the towing company and beg him for other options,as I was broke and had no car either.
Since I still had the title and another parts car at my house with a title,I was able to trade the 2 titles and give him the parts car for scrap.
He came and towed it away, and took the burnt car from the impound to the junkyard, too.

Good luck,I hope you get some leads.
Its a shame we have to worry about our little 2000 dollar cars getting stolen.
I park my current car behind 2 locked fences and in a garage now.It has a crazy alarm with multiple hidden switches,a removeable steering wheel.
I know someone could still get it if they want still, but it wont be as easy, and they will under surveillance and be in firing range, too.
I can only hope to be so lucky that I catch someone coming back to try again.
Turkey Buzzards work pretty fast out here in the forest, haha

do you know where exactly it was found? I guarantee it is't far from where it was stripped. Moving a stripped and stolen car is not exactly easy.
