having car troubles
hey im having car problems once again, i'm getting tired of fixing it. but heres the problem, i parked my car at home after work and probably 30 min after i was home my neighbor came over and said my brake lights were on. i went outside to look at it and they were still on i opened the door and the light were turned off but for some reason the brake lights were still on i tried to pull up on the brake kust to make sure it wasnt stuck but that still didnt work. so i unhooked the battery so the lights went off and i was wondering if any of you knew what i can do to fix this problem so i dont have to keep unhooking the battery every time i leave the car, thanks

This is an easy fix. Please give me a call at 305-282-3643 and I will explain it to you if you dont get it.

The fix will cost you about $1 or whatever Nissan sells those rubber stoppers for.

There is a rubber stopper that sitts on the brake pedal after a while it gets hard and breaks out. This stopper keeps the switch open when the pedal is not presssed so the light does not come one, when you press the brake pedal the lights comes on because the rubber stoper is not pressing up against the break switch which is now called closed opertion.

Since the stopper has fallen out it is in permanent closed operation light on.

Thats the fix very common Nissan problem and cheap to fix.

You don't even have to buy the grommet, just do what I did. Use black or gray rtv compound and stick a nickel or quarter in there instead of the grommet. I did this over 2 years ago and it's still working.

P.S. Plus, the plastic grommet will eventually break again... the coin won't.

Put the grommet back in there. These thing generally last for 10 years so whats the big deal/

Getto rigging leads to crappy car in the future.

You need to ask yourself why they use the rubber grommet but you have not thought about that yet.

I really didn't spend any time thinking about why they used rubber/plastic instead of metal. But, for you sake, I'll do it. Hmmm, maybe because it's cheaper than using metal, n'est pas?

Ride someone else's balls, Dre. It was a simple cost/time effective solution to an easy fix... nothing ghetto about it. I did it because it was fast and simple and it performs the same function. Ghetto my ass.

P.S. I don't ghetto fix anything on my car... ghetto meaning that it's a cheap in quality and cheap in price. I save my money to buy quality replacements and upgrades to my car, period. If you couldn't tell, being called "ghetto" oddly pisses me off.

Hmm

The rubber grommet is put there as to not cause damge to the switch. The grommet takes the abuse and breaks off in time.

Trust me the switch costs way more than the grommet.

Anyway a getto fix is a getto fix. You dont have to like it to be true. It is what it is.

No need to be mad about it.
