Thanks, that helps very much. I will start there and eventually come back and update.

I couldn't get a good pic last night because of hoses in the way, but it was simpler than I remembered. Coming around the back of the firewall is a harness, it splits off, two smaller cables with plastic sheathing, one runs to a connector for the rear of the tranny (neutral switch), the other extends a bit further to the side of the tranny by the wheel for the reverse switch.

If you can follow up the reverse switch wire and trace it back, you'll find the other connector relatively easily.

So far no good. I have removed everything so I can see on top of the tranny. The wire loom you described goes to the switch on the bottom, driver side of the tranny and to a connector on the back, topside of the tranny. The wire coming out of the tranny that I am describing is on the bottom, passenger side of the tranny and has 2 yellow wires coming out. I cannot find anywhere it would connect to.

OK, you have more wires there than I do, but I have a '91 and you have a '93, so apparently there are some differences. I couldn't find a good FSM for the '93, so I pulled up a '94 from here: Index of /FSM/Sentra/1994_Sentra

Section EL, Page 103, shows the reverse and neutral connections we mentioned earlier. There is another connector labeled E115 which is only for Automatics. The one that might be relevant is labeled E151, this is listed as the Vehicle Speed Sensor. Does your instrument cluster show your speed when you are driving? This cable is in the back of the engine and may not even be visible from above, it looks like the cable stops somewhere near the starter. Section EC, Page 274, shows this cable though as having Red/Green wires, so I really don't think that one is it.

I couldn't find a mention of the wire colors for the neutral switch, I still think that's what's unplugged, but would really need to see a picture to know where exactly these wires are coming from.

Thanks for that. Looking at the MT section pages 6 and 10 I would say it is the Neutral Switch. But the end of the wire harness does not have a connector, it is just bare wires. And I cannot for the life of me figure out where they would connect. Any pics would be great.

I thought I remember one of them having to do with the reverse lights

My reverse lights do work. Also, I fixed my cruise control. The vacuum hose had come off of the vacuum diaphragm portion. I just cut off a bit of the rotted hose and reattached and it is working fine. But still cannot figure out where the Neutral Switch wire from the transmission attaches to.

This is wrong. All of the factory harness wiring terminates in a connector of some sort, even the ground wires have usually a ring terminal. There are no bare wires unless something broke or was hacked off. I'm out of ideas without seeing a picture, unless someone with a '93 or '94 can chime in on those wires.

It is possible the connector broke off. I have been trying to post a pic but I am not allowed to yet for some reason. I have twice emailed the administrators about it but have had no reply.

Try This:

It is the wire loom hanging down. I have it ziptied to the shift linkage.
