b15 speedo sensor in b14 trans
Hey Everyone,

I have been looking high and low for a damn electronic speedo sensor. I found a b15 with a rr sr20 and a manual lsd tranny at the junker today. I pulled the sensor and got it home to find out the gear has 34 teeth vs the 36 on my cable b13 sensor that I had in the b14 tranny...I am no gear expert but the gear outer diameter is the same on both, so I assumed it wouldn't mesh with the plastic diff gear. I test fit the b15 sensor in and the axle still spins by hand...has anyone done this with no issues? Doesn't quite make sense to me but it has been a long day. Thanks for any help.

Well going by the theory that a b14 or b13 sensor swaps into a b15 trans, I see no problem other than maybe the harness connector or possibly reading the wrong speed (maybe that's the difference in the teeth count?).

Also I have a brand new OEM electric speed sensor for sale if you're interested.

Thanks allot for your input Dave, I think you might be correct and I follow your logic. Could be an adjustment for different wheel sizes? I guess as long as the gear angle is the same it will not ruin itself. I read a few horror stories of sensors from auto trannys getting torn up inside the tranny...I just finished rebuilding it, not really looking to take it apart again.

I will definitely let you know when I find out if this thing will work our not...should be soon.
