Removing outer cv joint
Anyone else ever have one so stubborn that it won't come off? I put it in a vice and gave it a few hard hits, and nothing. Feels like I'm going to do more damage to the cv joint by hitting it so many times. Anyone have any suggestions?

And before you tell me to go buy an aftermarket axle, I have one on the car now. The one I'm trying to fix is an OEM green axle that just needs a new boot.

Slide hammer. Fuck aftermarket axles.

The smallest attachment fits onto the lower part that is threaded and just so happens to fit the flat face of the outer CV joint perfectly.

Rent one for free at an autozone store that rents tools (free after you get your deposit back) Fuck aftermarket axles. Watch your shins.

Even better there is a tool that uses compressed air and specially crafted boots that stretch so all you need to do is clean out the joint, apply new grease, use this tool to install the boot, clamp it down and be on your way. Best device I have ever seen utilized to save time and money on a boot install.

Looks like this. Fuck aftermarket axles.

The tool is expensive but I am still amazed at how effective it is. oh yeah, and Fuck aftermarket axles.

I used my giant pipe wrench on the right setting where Tue axle meets the tranny, crush it together, it uses the case for leverage and clears the clip. Then one good oomph and pop all good.

This is a good tool for those stubborn cv joints, no hammering involved

I guess hammering. The hardest part is to pull them out.
