The bracket doesn't stop it from breaking gears, it just helps to keep the case from cracking by the axle.

Exactly my problem and a good solution. Axle hop smashes the transmission cases real fast. I may have saved a transmission in the past by improved engine mounts or this brace.

I have broken a lot of gears and a few cases, welding does help with the case but not the gears. The bracket you have is it on the clutch cable bracket? I made a few of those but they only help stiffen the clutch action. I'm running a 6spd now but all my fellow fwd sr20 ppl are still on stock trans and I'm tired of swapping gears out for them. Not to mention welding a 20yo dirty nasty case is a huge pita.

I would like to see what ppl are doing to keep these transmission alive with 400hp pumped into them.

It's bolted to the 14mm bolt at the bottom of the oil pan and the other end is welded to the motor mount/shifter stabilizer bracket that bolts to the tranny. It basically does the same as the welded case without the hassle. I used an old alternator adjuster bracket from a older car, bolted the part with the hole to the 14mm bolt, rotated it up to touch the motor mount bracket, twist it so the flat side sits flush with the bracket and weld away.

I have to put it on the lift to take pics and the car sleeps at home not at the shop. I have some jobs to finish before I can get it on there. I explained it pretty good though which is more than what I had when I did it. I just went under there and looked at it for a while to see what I can do to prevent the case from splitting without welding it up. That way I can just swap in a spare tranny without pulling it apart to weld it and this is what I came up with. Once you get under there I'm sure you will understand what I'm talking about.
