How is valeo a knock-off? A transmission creates torque? I thought that was the engines job.

Your comments in the most recent post, @phixer confuse me and a few other folks even more.

But the experiences I have had with my OEM B15 pressure plate and clutch must be a fluke since I am still using the clutch I replaced over 100,000 miles / almost ten years ago and I beat the ever-lasting snot out of my car with damn near one hundred drag launches, beating the hell out of the car on the street, and doing tire burnout "send-offs". But getting caught in OEM-spec or OEM exceeds standards are subject to change with either testing group or the manufacturer testing the part.

I truly believe a lot of clutch failures are due to either incorrect installation, break-in procedures, and the always favored "Murphy's Law". (as the manufacturers ALL with say)

Randy shredded that Exedy clutch faster than shit through a goose but I really hope your experience is much better.

But how much power was your car making during that time? That's the thing.. I had a B15 disc last about 2 years in my VE which was making anywhere between 194-210WHP, I also beat the crap out of it, but 2 years and it finally quit. I now have the CMFX500 and wish I had just gotten it from the start

Here's the thing, HP does not harm the clutch or pressure plate assembly as much as you think. Torque does. A bolt-on DE and VE make very similar torque levels but a VE is typical more flat torque. Why yours went out after two years, maybe it was the person who installed it, who knows. Either way, the clutch still works fine in my slow-ass daily-driven, constantly abused car. I have barely added any torque regardless, not all clutch installs go the same way.

You are right about using a CM FX500 from the start.

I believe I have an Exedy stage 2 pressure plate in and have ran about 40k in it, and its soft as can be and still grips hard. but while you are doing the clutch i would highly recommend a Lightweight flywheel, this helped my revs immensely and i love it!
