Yah, it is sort of up to personal preference, and I too like mine to grab right at the floor.
However, too close to the floor can cause over-centering issues where the pressure plate fingers lock in the disengaged position. It also seems to put more stress on the clutch cable. As the clutch wears and the cable stretches the grab point can get so low that you can't fully disengage the clutch anymore and/or the over-centering happens more and the clutch pedal doesn't have enough spring force to pull the cable back.
All in all, I've learned to adjust mine a bit off the floor now to avoid a lot of issues I experienced when it was grabbing too low. I don't have it grabbing in the middle by any means, but I don't have it down as low as before.
My recommendation is that the clutch should grab anywhere from from the 1/2 to 3/4 travel. Past 3/4 you have the issues I talk about above. Closer than 1/2 travel and I'm not sure you'd get the full clamping force of the pressure plate.
