Transmission removal
Hey all, I'm trying to remove the 5spd from my B14 so I can change the clutch. One problem I'm running into is that I can't seem to get the axle out of the tranny on the passenger side. I've removed all the bolts from the bracket, and at this point the axle is supposed to slide right out, but it simply won't budge. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Slide hammer with the correct attachment will pop that sucker right out.

Or if you wanna do it the economical way you can slide a flat head screwdriver through the differential and knock it out.

What I do after I remove the 3 bolts is tap one side down so it offsets the holes and then tap it out.

Once you have the driver side out you can tap it out through the differential and itll disengage the axle lock-washer from there you can pull it out by hand.

I might be thinking a be thinking about an automatic c/v axle but itll loosen it from the splines so itll still work.

This all day long. I would never recommend sticking a screw driver inside the differential. I believe there is a pin you could damage in the middle of the differential.

your thinking of the pinion mate, but you can slide the flat head past it and bang it out.

Pull harder? I just did this last weekend. We just unbolted the transmission and started to drop it a little then pryed it out.
