Maxima guys have been shorting the shifter throw for a while now, by drilling a new hole and remounting one of the shifter cables.
All you need is a 5/16" clevis pin and a cotter pin. Both will set you back a whipping $3!
Measured and started drilling the pilot hole.

Used a 5/16" clevis pin easily found at Lowes/Homedepot. Cut it down, since you don't need it to be 2" long.

Test fitting the hole and checking to make sure the shifter shifts fine without binding

I had to grind the arm slightly to get the arm to sit lower, painted it so it wouldn't rust. Other then that short shifter is done!

The shifter feels great, much better then before, and before I had solid metal bushings too!
