The 2J bushings are made of turcite, similar to delrin. $50 Isn't really that bad of a price for what you're getting. The delrin cross member bushings were close to that I think. I called them about these and they said turcite is tougher than delrin.

I've seen that shifter on ebay before. Might be worth a try. I advise against using B&M or any of the knock off short shifters. Read bad reviews about them snapping shifter cables.

I have the turcite bushings on my car shifts are very notchy.

The xmember bushings they are selling are actually a really good deal, I got a set a while back. I decided to stick to ES ones for comfort though.

I'm having a hard time finding any real reviews for the shifters, real shame. Ripping cables is no fun either, though I wonder if people power shifted.

Here is what I made for mine, the main issue I had was finding spacer that would be small enough to fit into the bushing center hole. To fill the void I just used a piece of rubber hose. This was a quick, I need to get the shifter to be better fix, but still not 100% satisfied enough with the results, though I don't know if it will get any better then this...

You guys should look into the TWM adaptor. It mounts on the transmission to change the position the cable is attached. Spec v guys swear by it, shortens the throw without snapping cables. I plan on trying the combination of that ebay full shifter assembly and this adaptor for a short throw.

Here's what I came up with. I used some spare material I had left over from recovering my S13 glove box. It's black suede and worked out decent enough. I also got a little more technical with it and measured out two pairs of isosceles triangles (left/right & front/back) and then sewed the 4 pieces together. To get dimensions, put shifter in 1st, then measure diagonally to the opposite corner of the shifter trim (reverse in this case), then put shifter in 2nd and measure diagonally to the forward right corner of the shifter trim...add a little extra so you can tuck it...can always trim the excess. Then, rinse and repeat for each corner...a diagram helps.

Here you can see where I trimmed the console where the shifter was hitting. Coheed had already trimmed it crudely, I just made it a little neater.


It would be nice to mock up an aluminum rectangle (or wood for that matter as it wouldn't be seen) to fit into the original groove where the shifter trim once was. Maybe later...

IMO TWM adapter is not worth it, doesn't look so sturdy...

2J-Racing one actually looks better, it's based on the Nismo one (discontinued, so 2JR got the rights to remake them).

I made one last night like the 2JR version. It reduced my throws to 1-5/8". It works pretty well, jut need a little more effort to shift. I used a piece of 1/4" aluminum, and ome bolts and washers. The bushing on that cable end was shot so I made one out of HDPE.

Mind posting some pics? I've seen another way to shorten the throw by redrilling a new hole (trying to find the thread).

I finished making the other two solid bushings today. Feels much better. This wasnt really hard or complicated to do. Just took a little time. I used a drill, side grinder with a cut off wheel and sanding disk, and a portaband. If you have these you can do this too, and save $100 or more.
