Slicks and skinnies.
So I've finally gone and run the 3.5 at the track. I'm pretty happy with the consistency.
My times are in general (Azenis 615s 215/45/17):
2.2 sec 60'
13.4 sec 1/4mi
105.5MPH trap
My Best times were:
13.37 and 106.3MPH
Now, I'm completely dumb when it comes to drag tires and wheels. Don't know what size to run, what brand to go with, if I should run skinnies, what I should pay, etc.
I'm thinking full blown slicks, aka, a second set of wheels. My bolt pattern is 4x114.3 in the front and 4x100 in the rear, although I may go with 114.3 all around. My biggest concern is finding wheels that will clear the brakes and whether or not I should run wide ass tires with big spacers.
My cheapest method would be finding 2 SpecV wheels for the front and 2 thin ass steelies (aka Toyota tercel wheels) for the rear. Then I would need some good slicks, such as Hoosier.
Few more technical Qs. How long will a good set of slicks last? Say at 5 runs/night, running once a month or so. Also, I'm not too worried about transmission or drive axle failure. It's a Maxima transmission and very thick axles driving a pretty light car.
