As the title says... For those on a weight reduction diet etc..

Can I remove this or will it hamper with traction?

Running OEM struts with generic lowering springs if this helps.

Yes, it's useless in a straight line.

if you are going to remove it, you might want to jam some traction bars in there.

I always have ditched them. My red car managed to hook consistent 1.5-1.6 60' times without that and didn't even have traction bars.

Surprisingly mine is still on. I've just never bothered taking it off for some reason.

It is not debated upon, it is physics. And noted here, http://www.sr20-forum.com/information-library/61073-handling-suspension-brakes-thread-what-your-chassis-telling-you.html#post835492

On a flat, level surface that most of the drag racers will be on, it will be fine. On the street, braking and acceleration are negatively affected by removing the front sway-bar.

The car will handle better because the wheels can move more independently in relation to each other. The bar is no longer limiting the movement. That means instead of the sway-bar limiting the amount of contact patch the tire has, the tire can move a bit more before the strut will begin to compress more and begin to take away - camber. (as that is how the front struts act on the stock Sentra) Good read in that entire thread I linked as well.

I have debated doing this to my car but, I am worried about taking away too much from the street.

Try it. You really won't notice much of a difference.

Well today I chopped it off! .........

Then I was half way home and realized, oh ya... I didn't even notice a difference being easy on it! Then I decided to carve some corners the rest of the way home. I'd say its better. Without getting into all this understeer/ oversteer b.s. This is what I conclude:

Before: Entry was good, middle and exit was poor.
After: Entry is poor, middle and exit is great!

Plus another 20 pounds or so gone from the car. (guess)
