Yeah, you look at every single all motor car that is on top right now, they all run 16v batteries. Not only that most of your big domestic guys run them as well.
Cory, you should definitely try it out if you can get your hands on one or remove the belt and have a charger on there that at least puts out 14+ volts under load and see what happens. At your level, an extra 10whp is gonna be equal to a tenth or two. So like I said, every little bit helps.

Yeah well see, I am very interested to see what it does on the dyno with the new set up. I'm still busy wrapping all that up. But I will definately spend some time to remove the alt belt and try a few runs with the charger on the battery to get a feel for real world gains. If I can make it happen I'm not about to leave that 10whp or so on the table.
^Thats how I am feeling. Its an extra 10whp I could use. Gotta say thanks for pointing it out. I ran the idea by Marsh and I figure its something we could consider. Gotta get my hands on an electric WP.
Mezier, only way to go for the electric WP. I bought mine used 3 years ago and put over 2 years of actual use on it driving to work every day and still zero issues with it. I run no t-stat and my temps stay below 185 no matter how hard I am on the motor, doing back to back runs on the street or dyno, didnt matter. Running a civic 3 core half width radiator and flexalite 1250 cfm fan on at all times. No issues at all, Most of the time my temps stay in the 150's driving around with casual getting on it.

It will be one of the things i'll get once I finish the motor internally. Still gotta get my random odds and ends. I can't help but think about this shit. Would be nice if it proves to make the power. I'll find somewhere to cut out to compensate the weight.

Cory you will have to retune. higher voltage being feed to the fuel pump will increase its ouput.
it's a nice thing to do, Andreas has alot of input on this subject as far as alternator load, he has real life experience and from what he had told me(about 8 years ago) it was a plus gain.

Yeah you will more than likely have to adjust fuel pressure if you have an adjustable regulator which im sure you do. 15-16v will definitely increase the output of the fuel pump.

Id like to hear about mikos expierences, I know I've heard from a few different people now that the gain from simply not running the alt is only a 1-2whp increase. If that's the case then for me atleast this is not worth while..
Only way to find out is to test it out, get your setup when your done tuned in remove the belt, put the charger on, recheck fuel pressure and adjust if necessary and do another pull. Shouldnt take but a couple minutes to accomplish.
