no you should be fine on the 24's. You will still be in 3rd crossing the line but the last thing you want to have to do in an 1/8th mile race is shift to 4th.

My trap speed was 110mph in the 1/4 and I was crossing at about 7500 in 4th gear. Perfect size slick for that power. Traction all the way down the track in every gear ran 12.4@110mph. 1/8th mile was a 7.87@88mph and I was at about 8k in 3rd gear.

I was using a stock trans as well. For you in the 1/8th mile a 23" slick would probably be perfect for you. That will get you to about 95-96mph in 3rd. You definitely dont want to have to shift to 4th just before the end.

I had a similar setup. 22" M/T slicks being spun by a GTI-R T28, S4, 286whp/245wtq dynoed the day before. I ran a 12.301@113.55 with IIRC a 1.8 second 60 foot time. I don't think the 22s will be too small, but I also don't think the 24 will be too big. I would probably go with the larger slick in case you end up making even more power. I wish I had.

Update on this. I finally used the 24.5x9's yesterday. Still pulled 1.7 60's and ran 7.9 in the 1/8th on the 100 shot. POS was melting plugs again, so I never really got a good pass in. I had really thought it was slow it down more staying on the same shot. I'd been running 7.8/9s with 1.6/7 60's on the 22's last few trips. Actually got one 1.65 60ft on the 22's last week.

Tried the 150 shot yesterday. Pulled 1.6 60's on the 24's, but was still melting plugs, so no full passes. Hopefully I can get the timing setup right during the week, next saturday is the last day the local track will be open this year.
