As for the shifting I dont think 200 rpm would make much of a difference but it makes sense thinking at it from an physics stand point. If you can trap in 3rd do it but last time i was at the track I ran 14.3 and I shifted from 3rd to 4th at 7500 a little ways from the end of the 1/4 and i was trapping 100. As long as you don't hit the rev limiter in 3rd before you finish you should be fine.

idk if your refering to me, coryb13ser on the other forum. and yea i was running 13.4-13.5 at between 100-102mph with my sr16 cammed ve. i was shifting at 8k every gear. this way when my revs dropped they wouldnt drop below 6k and i could finish the 1/4 in 3rd gear with my 23.5in slciks...

I am no expert by anyones definition of the term and I certainly haven't even tracked my car yet, but I think that after a 4-1 header/slicks/weight reduction you will be more satisfied with the times that you put down... Just my $0.02

thanks man, I just bit the bullet and went ahead and ordered a set of falken azenis tires. I should have all the traction I want after that.

LOL I know I have done my research. They are great in the twistys but not quite as good for drag, but I would put money on the fact that nothing out there could be worse then a set of nitto NT450s. I would even think that the azenis' would be a little better for 1/4 mile then 512s would be (the tires I had on my old NX rims in 185-60-14 size. It should help out a little bit. The Azenis' are going on a set of b14 rims and I ordered 205-50-15.

well then atleast you know. you made it sound like you were expecting these things to hook like crazy, which turst me they really dont. but like you said, they will be better then the typical tire. just borrow a set of slicks to get the feel of them.... once you run a slick you will NEVER go back.

Nah I just like to overexaggerate sometimes.
From what I've read about the azenis', I imagine that driving with those compared to these nittos nt450s or the skinny ziex 512s is gonna be like night and day. I searched through the drag racing subsection on the sr20forum and saw guys saying they were able to get 2.0-1.9 60' times with azenis, which would completely devestate my 2.5' I was consistently getting before. If I could manage that, one of my runs was a 2.51 s 60', and a 14.67 s 1/4 at 96.02 mph, If I dropped that 60' time to 1.9 or 2.0 that should bring me to at least 14 flat.

also depends on the tracks prep work too because i was cutting some 2.0-2.2 60's on some toyo proxies 205-45-16s at full inflation

i may be boosted but the car was only running 7 pounds and the timing on the ENGINE was off so it was basically n/a

1/4 Mile update:

60' 2.301
330' 6.224
1/8 9.393
MPH 77.25
1000' 12.112
1/4 14.418
MPH 97.52

Realistically I should be able to get my 60' times down to 1.9-2.0 and that should drop my ETs right down into the low 14's/high 13's. I think I could even do it on street tires.
