Im using Mickeys ET street....225/50/15 (no rubbing at ALL in my NX). great traction, and size help my trap speed. My friend has the same tires, different size of course, blew his rear at the track...TRACTION!

It spins in 1st-2nd a little in 3rd.

Why would the strip have less traction? You'd think it'd have more since it's a drag strip?

the track its preped. for sticky tires not street tires...... like people said before, if u really have a high horsepower car its a waste of time and gas to go on street tires. go on atleast a decent set of drag radial or else u'll end up a bit frustrated (only having one gear or less to be useful is not fun! I know) IMHO fixing up a car but not buying a decent set of tires kind of defets the purpose of fun, it'd be like fixing up the car wouldn't be justifiable on its own.

With drag radials you should be good because of the softer compound but with regular street tires you will spin. I tried it years ago and gave up.

Gomba street tires are fun on the street. With a High hp fwd car I would just buy some DR's or slicks. Its all fun and games until you get that one chance to blow the doors off a new Z06 and you dont have the right tires so you get drug down the track just spinning away!

Awesome post considering you have both!!!!

In my opinion, if you aren't willing to run slicks, you shouldn't post in this section.

So basically I'm hearing I shouldn't even go to the strip because trying to get best times(relative to the street tires) on street tires is not fun in a challenging way, but frustrating in a bad way?

I thought it'd be kind of fun to come up w/some strategies for getting some good times on street tires at the track but it seems the material the track is made of makes sticky street tires act like there's rain on the road.

OK nm I guess :/ If my street tires will literally act like trying to drive in the rain on the street w/my street tires than I won't go.

dont pay no mind to anything that makes you not want to go....seat time with street tires > no time with slicks you still gotta drive the car dude just go have fun

I would go for the fun of it man. Try and control wheelspin and you should be good. I know kids who complain how their civic's spin down most of the track when they have 180-200whp setups. Its all in the driver and controlling the throttle. The track is fun as hell (unless its completely packed). Just go out there for shits and giggles. Your traps will at least give you a better idea of where your car would be if you were to run slicks as opposed to just guessing from street pulls.
