^^^^^
It's all about driving. Both me and Gio are in the high 400hp range and we run mid 11's all day with FWD Sentras. He said it was his first pass. With a little more seat time he would run just as good as any RWD with the same power.

^^^^^^ that's right, keV and me are full body cars with a/c and all, keV has a nice simPle setup (t-28) and I run a log 60-1 nothing special on drag radials. Both of us are running b13 gearboxes. I ran 11.56 with a clutch that gave out on me in fourth gear. It was a hd act pressure plate with a street disc. If the clutch would have held I say 11.30 you of been possible. I ran a 11.8 at 128 mPh at 19 psi and a 11.56 at 123 mPh at 21 psi.
PRACTICe makes better.

Its all about practice. When I would go out before on slicks with the 60 trim I would not set the slicks down low for best traction mainly to save the trans and axles. Then when I went out on 30 psi and new larger slicks I felt what traction was like and then snapped the axle on a rev limiter launch. So its a trade off in a way. But if you could get it right inbetween to where you can baby the launch a bit but have traction in all gears when wot then that would be best. That's my plan for when I go out soon with 700 whp is to just get a good launch but not an all out that's gonna snap an axle. Have the slicks set down where they should for best traction so I don't just burn 1st through 3rd gear and it should result in as good of a time as I'm gonna get or close to it. Oh and small turbos and large turbos are very different small turbos can have great traction while big turbos won't until top end.

I guess I'm talking more about a street car. It's not practical to run drag slicks on the street

Also, there's no way a FWD car is better or equal at the strip than a RWD or AWD car..physics says so. Our cars run low numbers because they weigh so little.

IMO a FWD car is good on the street I'd say up to 300whp. After that, it becomes quite ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, they are still fun to drive but you lose a lot of power/fun due to spinning your way from 1st to 3rd gear on the street.

Well you mentioned 11 second xxxhp car. And my car is my daily, car seat and all at the track. Drag radials and 110 octane is for the track, Plus I drive it to the track 1 1/2 hours away.

Yeah I drove my car 3 hours to the track every time. Sucka when I break but I didn't have a trailer. So hot towed back with a 20ft tow strap attached to the back of my buddies 03 evo 8. On street tires over 300whp and especially 400whp and 500whp traction in 1 through 4 are non existent. Yeah you pull pretty hard while spinning but the fact is your wasting a lot of time by spinning. Its still fun to blow tires away at will in almost any gear

I drive a high HP FWD car as well(DD it for almost a year) and it gets a little old over time...

I guess I'm saying that I don't see a 450whp FWD car as practical on the street but only for the strip, but a RWD or AWD car with 550whp still drives fine on the street.

The opinion is strong in this post.

Ha ha maybe a rwd car with impractical 10 inch wide back tires and heavy ass wheels that take away about 80whp. But my buddies sr 240 w 225 whp on normal size wheels and tires will burn through 1st and 2nd all day long. I couldn't imagine w 500whp. Ha ha. I've driven and worked on a buddies 300who rb25 s14 and even being heavier it still will blow the heavy wheels and tires off it has on it. So yeah the street is very hard to get traction on unless your awd of course. But the track is meant and set up to have the best traction possible. Yes fwd will never be as launch capable but a fwd on slicks with a good driver can blow away a rwd muscle car on drag radials off the line at the track very easily. Pulling 1.6 60s I was making the rwd cars look bad. Ha ha

As everyone has said any car on the street with over a certain hp rating is going to spin.

Remember the street has turns, other cars, stop lights, POLICE...

Also once the OP dials the car in nicely the times will drop. He has the power to weight now just needs to focus on putting it to the ground which he will.

RWD, AWD have the same issues with dialing the car in to get the best times.
