When they first came out I raced one and won by a couple of car lengths, this was on the street though.

My mods were:
JDM 10:1 DE, SSAC headers, HS CAI, 2.5'' Exhaust, MSD 6A box, MSD Blaster Coil, 10mm spark plug wires.

The rotary is a good idea and you can buy used RX8s for next to nothing but they are not that great. I will give you that they are a great car model and could be awesome with an equally great engine. For example the turbo DISI engine from the Mazdaspeed6 would make it an awesome complete car. I know a VW shop close to me that has replaced 20-30 engines in RX8s all under mazda warranty service.
