Playing cards tonight with some friends and a buddy of mine with an RX8 was saying he'd beat my car by 3-5 car lengths in the quarter mile. Just wanted to see what your opinions were. I know those rotaries are tough, and they're high revving, but I think I have the advantage with less weight + cams.

And, no we will not be racing on the streets. If it comes down to it, we will have plenty of time to get cars ready for the spring season.

Also, if we do race, how much $$ do you think I should throw down?

Your trap speed should be higher. It'll all be in the launch. Stock rx8s only trapped like 93 IIRC. I had no problems walking 'em from a roll even before the VE.

I think it'll be close, like you said.... all about the launch. I dont think it will be 3-5 car lengths at all. That actually pissed me off when I heard him say that today, because IMO RX8's are slow. But that's also because I've raped them alot in my old boosted b13.

We've actually raced before, he had an 03 Spec V with a T3/T4 .50 trim and I had my black B13 T25. He beat me by about 2 car lengths, but theres no replacement for displacement

When he had the Spec and you had the T25, the turbo beat you. Spec V's are shit imho. And now they are dog ass ugly.

Anyway, I hope you beat him or at least give him a run for his money.

make sure your car weight with you in it is down and make sure you have the right rim tire combo and a decent launch you will buss dat ass

Easy win, Rx8 are heavy and the Renisis rotary Is a crap engine.

a rx-8 will run a 14.5 stock. I'd say the rx-8 would win by a hair

I think it'll be real close. It all depends on who gets the launch from a dig. If it were rolling, I think I'd beat it

100 octane won't do a thing unless you bump your timing a little with it, but that might be just enough to do it. I'd take as much weight out as possible and run it with the dipstick showing about half way between L and F. That will earn you around a tenth in the 1/8th by itself. Some ppl don't like to run a motor a little low but it does work, I've seen it and done it when in a tight spot. Should be a pretty close race though.

If you can get the rx8 then you will probably beat him; if not then buh-bye the top end on those rotary engines is crazy.
